About the Role


As Director of Real Estate & Facilities Management, you'll lead the strategic direction and operational management of the company's real estate portfolio. This involves overseeing outsourced teams, managing budgets, optimizing space, and aligning real estate strategies with business goals. The position requires a background in real estate or facilities management, strong financial and analytical skills, vendor management experience, and proficiency in property management systems.


Strategic Leadership:

  • Mentor junior team members (including vendor / partner) with opportunities for professional and personal skill development.

  • Oversees an outsourced organization of several business partners. High influencing and partnering skills are critical for successful implementation of business and financial plans.

  • Manage the delivery and performance of the real estate portfolio, Integrated Facilities Management (IFM) provider and other external partners/providers.

  • Coordinate planning and implementation with the other respective Regional Leads (FM) and partner organizations (Technology/Security/D&C/EH&S) within their matrixed responsibilities in the region.

  • Develop and manage all aspects of the annual operating expense and capital budgets.

  • Provide coordination of all REFM services within markets. Promote and expand the remit of GREFM services.


Project Oversight:

  • Assess space demands for businesses within the region and proactively anticipate changes – communicate requirements to other members of the regional and partner teams.

  • Support space optimization and workplace strategies in alignment with Thomson Reuters standards through close interaction and collaboration with the Design & Construction team.

  • Understand and align the business, organizational and strategic directions to drive real estate strategy for each location. This role will also help translate our value to our internal customers.


Stakeholder Management:

  • Develop and present business cases to support real estate transactions, capital investments and operational changes.

  • Align policies, processes, and best practices with business line strategies, thereby maximizing the value that REFM delivers to customers.


About You

  • Direct Real Estate or Facilities Management experience is required, including experience of managing FM services at large commercial offices of 1,000-2,000 employees.

  • Vendor management skills with specific experience partnering with relevant vendors in the region.

  • Comprehensive understanding of real estate and facility management associated with a multi-location, international organization.

  • Strong finance background and ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy in making decisions that are financially prudent and support the business.

  • Collaborative leadership skills, exceptional business and finance acumen, and well-developed interpersonal skills required to build a successful and cohesive team.

  • Strong analytical, organizational and management competence.

  • Proficiency with the Microsoft 365 suite, Archibus or a comparable property management system is required.

  • Ability to travel 15-20% of the time to other Thomson Reuters sites to oversee operations, projects and conduct customer reviews.

  • Change management and process improvement experience essential.

  • Fluency in English with strong cultural awareness of national diversity across regions. Fluency in Spanish or Portuguese a plus.
