Position Overview :

We are seeking a Director, Mortgage Operations to lead and manage the day-to-day operations of our mortgage lending division. As a key member of the lending team, you will oversee the loan origination process, underwriting support, loan administration, and regulatory compliance, ensuring the efficient and compliant delivery of our mortgage products. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and results-driven leader with a deep understanding of mortgages and a proven track record of managing teams and processes.

Roles and Responsibilities for Director, Mortgage Operations :

1. Operational Leadership :

  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the mortgage lending team.
  • Develop and maintain operational procedures to ensure smooth, effective, and compliant operations.
  • Continuously assess and improve operational processes for greater efficiency.

2. Team Development :

  • Recruit, train, and mentor mortgage lending staff, fostering a culture of accountability and excellence.
  • Implement performance metrics to measure team effectiveness and individual performance.
  • Encourage continuous learning and development within the operations team.

3. Loan Origination and Administration :

  • Oversee the loan origination and administration process, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and regulatory standards.
  • Provide support to underwriting staff, ensuring all mortgage applications are processed efficiently and accurately.
  • Manage the credit review process, working with underwriters to ensure all applications align with the company’s risk profile.

4. Technology and Process Optimization :

  • Leverage technology to improve operational efficiency and accuracy.
  • Implement and optimize mortgage lending software and tools, ensuring seamless integration across systems.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends and technological advancements to drive innovation in mortgage operations.

5. Regulatory Management and Compliance :

  • Ensure that all operations comply with applicable regulatory requirements, including FINTRAC, BCFSA, and other relevant laws.
  • Conduct regular audits of operational processes to ensure compliance and identify areas for improvement.
  • Prepare and manage reports required for regulatory compliance and internal performance tracking.

6. Reporting and Communication :

  • Report to senior management on the status of lending operations, loan processing performance, and any challenges or opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate effectively with other departments to ensure alignment and smooth workflow across the organization.

7. Market and Competitive Analysis :

  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to ensure First Circle Financials' operations remain competitive and aligned with industry best practices.
  • Identify new opportunities for operational improvements based on market changes.

Required Qualifications :

  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years in mortgage lending or operations, with significant experience managing mortgage processing, loan origination, and underwriting teams.
  • Education : Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
  • Licenses : Registered sub-mortgage broker in the Province of British Columbia.
  • Skills : Proven expertise in mortgage operations, underwriting, risk management, and team leadership.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Strong understanding of British Columbia mortgage regulations, including BCFSA and FINTRAC compliance.
  • Technical Skills : Experience with mortgage lending software and process automation tools is a plus.
