Role Description

As the Director of Marketing and Communications at RTV, you will lead the development and execution of a unified communications and brand strategy to amplify RTV's mission, increase visibility, and build trust with funders, government stakeholders, and sector influencers.

This role focuses on creating high-quality, data-backed content that showcases RTV's impact, including impact reports, donor deliverables, pitch decks, thought leadership pieces, and digital campaigns. You will oversee the creation of communication products that translate complex outcomes into compelling narratives.

You will collaborate with MEL, development, program, and executive teams to ensure external communications reflect RTV's voice, evidence, and strategic goals. This leadership role combines strategic thinking, storytelling, and a focus on KPIs and audience engagement metrics.

The candidate should be hands-on in core marketing communications functions and will have the opportunity to build and lead a team, designing team structure, processes, and systems to support RTV's communications efforts.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Communications & Brand Leadership

  • Develop and execute an integrated communications and brand strategy that advances RTV's mission and positioning.
  • Partner with the executive team and design partners to shape RTV's brand identity and ensure consistent implementation across all touchpoints, including donor materials, digital platforms, and internal communications.
  • Advise the executive team on high-stakes communications, reputation management, and external engagement opportunities.

Funder-Facing Content & Thought Leadership

  • Oversee creation of strategic materials for funders, donors, and partners, including impact reports, pitch decks, investment briefs, and thought leadership content.
  • Collaborate with data, technology, partnerships, and program teams to ensure materials are evidence-based and aligned with strategic priorities.
  • Develop tailored communication strategies for government stakeholders, including briefing notes, policy decks, and field visit materials.

Digital Strategy & Public Engagement

  • Manage RTV's digital platforms, ensuring consistent messaging and high-quality content, including platform rebranding as needed.
  • Lead digital engagement strategies to expand reach, deepen engagement, and support fundraising and advocacy.
  • Produce multimedia content to showcase RTV's work effectively.

Performance, Analytics & Insights

  • Define and monitor KPIs across all communications functions, including engagement, visibility, brand sentiment, and digital growth.
  • Use analytics and audience insights to refine content strategies and improve impact.

Team Development & Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Lead, mentor, and grow the communications team across multiple countries.
  • Build strong partnerships with departments such as data & technology, programs, partnerships, and leadership.
  • Support internal communication strategies to foster organizational alignment and transparency.
  • Facilitate change management and internal engagement to promote RTV's new brand identity.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proven leadership in marketing communications, preferably in international development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience creating funder-facing impact reports, pitch decks, donor reports, and public briefs.
  • Experience in developing operational procedures and implementing systems to support marketing and communications efforts.
  • Strong leadership skills, capable of building and supporting high-performing teams.
  • Exceptional storytelling skills, both written and visual, with strong technical writing ability and data-informed content creation.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects in deadline-driven environments.
  • Experience managing cross-departmental teams in matrixed organizations with a solutions-oriented approach.
  • Familiarity with impact measurement and reporting frameworks is a plus.
