The Director, Marketing and Communications, Advanced Skills Centre, will report to the Associate Vice President, Marketing and Communications who also is part of the External Relations team.

This is as a highly strategic leadership position, driving innovative marketing and communications strategies for the comprehensive fundraising campaign for the Advanced Skills Centre (ASC) aligned with NAIT’s overarching brand and strategic direction, The NAIT Effect , our vision, promises and values.

The Director will be accountable for the success of marketing and communication strategies that serve as the cornerstone for donor engagement, campaign visibility, and philanthropic momentum to position the ASC and support NAIT’s multi-year comprehensive fundraising campaign. The role will provide continual direction around messaging that maximizes engagement and drives donations while supporting the achievement of key outcomes, directly tied to the goals for the ASC project and the campaign.

The Director will oversee a professional team who are responsible for operationalizing strategies that will engage, inform and inspire potential donors, supporters and the community. Working collaboratively to define goals, target audiences and key messaging through the development and execution of tactics with others on the Marketing and Communications team, executive, senior leaders across NAIT or other external vendors as required. The Director will work collaboratively with External Relations leadership to foster a culture of philanthropy across the portfolio and beyond, leveraging internal and external stakeholders and brand ambassadors.

This role will also participate in governance and leadership committee meetings for the ASC project and attend Board of Governor meetings when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong marketing and communications acumen : knowledge and experience with digital marketing, website content, social media, design, advertising and other skills to collaborate with marketing and communications team members of the External Relations team which includes Marketing, Communications, Creative Services, Web Development and Technology and Advancement.
  • Content strategy : develop a donor-centered storytelling strategy that communicates the ASC’s transformative impact, highlights philanthropic and investment opportunities, and celebrates donor contributions; share campaign milestones and successes across all phases of the campaign.
  • Fund Development Communications / Stewardship : working in alignment with advancement and marketing and communications colleagues, develop all assets of a comprehensive marketing and communications campaign leveraging internal and external stakeholders and brand ambassadors to foster a culture of philanthropy and champions for the Advanced Skills Centre.
  • Media Relations : support relationships with media alongside the media relations strategist to generate media coverage, including news releases, media interviews and op-eds.
  • Event promotion : collaborate with events team to develop and promote fundraising events, on campus partner and government visits, donor recognition events, etc.
  • Stakeholder Communications : work with the development team to co-develop targeted donor communications, ensuring consistent, compelling messaging across campaign materials, proposals, recognition, and stewardship updates.
  • Measurement and reporting : establish metrics and benchmarks for the effectiveness of the marketing and communications strategies and adjust based on analytics to maximize success. Regular reporting to senior leadership and internal partners on campaign engagement, media coverage and donor responses.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Marketing, Communications, or a related field.
  • A minimum of ten (10) years of progressively responsible communications and leadership experience.
  • Proven experience leading marketing and communications strategies in support of capital or comprehensive campaigns, particularly in a nonprofit or post-secondary environment, with demonstrated success in donor engagement, campaign branding, and advancement collaboration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling stories and messages.
  • Ability to think strategically and adapt to changing circumstances in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

Applicants with education credentials earned outside of Canada should have their credentials evaluated by World Education Services or the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS).

Remuneration : $109,064.28 - $144,494.48 annually, plus a comprehensive benefits package.
