Job summary

WSP is seeking a Director, Major Projects - Resources to lead mining and resource programs across Canada from an Ontario or Québec office. You will drive pursuit, planning, governance, and delivery, while strengthening client relationships and expanding WSP's Major Projects practice.

You will develop strategies for safety, quality, schedule, and budget; mentor Project Directors and Managers; and lead cross-functional teams across EPCM, consulting, and owner-representative roles.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, construction management, or related field; P.Eng. designation or equivalent preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience delivering mining/resources/major infrastructure or industrial projects.
  • Advanced knowledge of project governance, controls, contract management, and financial forecasting.
  • Experience across owner, EPCM, consulting, contractor, PMC, and owner-representative environments.
  • Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and build senior client relationships.
  • Experience engaging clients, regulators, and Indigenous communities with sound judgment and collaboration.
  • Executive-level communication and stakeholder leadership; bilingual French and English is a strong asset, esp. in Québec.

  • Develop geographically dispersed teams and future major-project leaders through mentorship and accountability.
  • Shape long-term growth for WSP's Major Projects practice across Canada.

Lead the Projects that Define Canada's Resource Future

Bring strategic vision, commercial insight, and delivery leadership to complex mining and resource developments that create lasting value for clients, communities, and industry.

Based from an available WSP office in Ontario or Québec, you will contribute as Director, Major Projects - Resources within our Resources business line and report to the Vice President, Major Projects / Mining & Resources Leadership Team. You will lead the pursuit, planning, governance, and delivery of significant multidisciplinary assignments across Canada, guiding projects from early development through execution while strengthening client relationships and expanding WSP's Major Projects practice.

The Skills That Set You Apart
  • A bachelor's degree in engineering, geoscience, construction management, or a related discipline; a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation or equivalent professional registration is preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience delivering mining, resources, major infrastructure, or industrial projects, including leadership of large multidisciplinary programs with significant complexity and risk.
  • Advanced knowledge of project governance, project controls, contract management, commercial execution, financial forecasting, and enterprise risk management.
  • Experience working across owner, EPCM, consulting, contractor, PMC, and owner-representative environments throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated success building senior client relationships, leading strategic pursuits, negotiating major assignments, and expanding repeat business.
  • Proven ability to lead large, geographically dispersed teams and align operational leaders, technical specialists, project teams, and corporate functions around shared outcomes.
  • Experience engaging clients, contractors, regulators, and Indigenous communities with sound judgement, respect, and a commitment to meaningful collaboration.
  • Executive-level communication, negotiation, and stakeholder leadership capabilities; bilingual French and English proficiency is a strong asset, particularly for candidates based in Québec.

Compensation

Base compensation starting at $208,229
