Job summary

RBC in Toronto seeks an experienced IT Risk and Operational Risk reporting leader to define and drive the strategic direction of domain-level reports. You will lead a team of six to deliver accurate, board-ready risk insights, partnering with stakeholders across Enterprise to align metrics and reporting.

You will stay abreast of regulatory developments, foster collaboration, and ensure clear messaging for senior leaders and committees, while adapting to shifting priorities and ad-hoc assignments.

  • Prepare speaking notes and communications for presentations to committees.
  • Deliver risk information to senior leaders, boards, and committees.
  • Stay abreast of regulatory developments and industry best practices.
  • Handle ad-hoc assignments as priorities shift.

Job Description
What Will You Do:
  • Set the strategic direction of the design, development, and implementation of domain-level reports for IT Risk Management.
  • Lead a team of 6 to a standard of excellence for the development and publication of a current and accurate view of both the Operational Risk and IT Risk profiles, including regional specific profiles.
  • Develop strong relationships with diverse stakeholders across Enterprise, focusing on collaboration and alignment for both metrics and reporting.
  • Drive standardization, consistency, and transparency across all elements of risk reporting and insights.
  • Identify and investigate emerging risks, taking initiative to engage with SMEs to create ‘risk features and strategic and actionable insights.
  • Work in collaboration with domain owners to ensure messaging is clear, and reporting is accurate and sufficient.
  • Provide effective challenge on all risk materials prior to presentation to committees, including preparing required speaking notes and communications.
  • Establish a strategic strategy to deliver critical Operational and IT Risk information to senior leaders, boards and committees.
  • Keeps abreast of regulatory developments, industry best practices and leading trends in governance practices. Responds to regulatory and Internal Audit as required.
  • As priorities shift within the department, ad-hoc assignments will inevitably occur, and resources are expected to be allocated as needed.
What You Need to Succeed:
Must-Have:
  • University Undergraduate Degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Risk Management, or the equivalent professional experience in an IT Risk Management, Cyber Security or other Information Technology Role.
  • Attention to detail is essential and non-negotiable.
  • Exceptional communication skills (both written and oral) and strong diplomatic and interpersonal skills to communicate with multiple stakeholders including senior management.
  • Ability to manage well under pressure and tight deadlines; works well with changing priorities in a dynamic small team environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical (including qualitative analysis), research and quantitative skills.
Nice-to-Have:
  • Experience working in a large Financial Institution, or in another Highly Regulated environment such as Health Care or Government.
  • Certifications in risk management (CRISC, ERM, CISSP)
  • Strong foundational knowledge of Industry Frameworks such as NIST.
  • Experience in enterprise transformation.
