What you’ll be doing

As the Director, IT Project Management, you’ll be joining CIBC’s Shared Platform Technology team to manage the delivery of a portfolio of innovative projects. You’ll be responsible for leading the planning, execution, and delivery of complex IT projects across multiple business/technology units, developing and implementing project management standards, methodologies, and best practices. You will use your solid technical knowledge to create, adopt, and deliver business initiatives through all phases of the delivery cycle, leading a team of full-time employees and contingent workers through a mixture of Waterfall and Agile methodologies.

At CIBC, we enable a work environment most conducive to your success. You’ll be on-site full-time, with the flexibility of a hybrid work arrangement, spending 1-3 days per week on-site and the rest remote.

How you’ll succeed

  • Strategic Development & Execution: Manage highly complex project or program activities, perform business planning and ROI analysis, and ensure projects meet CIBC standards, policies, and procedures, including risk assessments.
  • Relationship Management: Maintain relationships with business management, stakeholders, clients, and senior management. Mentor sponsors and senior management.
  • Strong Leadership: Be an authentic leader who develops, coaches, and manages performance of the management team and key staff.

Who you are

  • You have 10+ years of experience in IT Project Management and 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • You have a proven track record managing large-scale, cross-functional projects.
  • You possess a strong understanding of project management methodologies and experience with Agile, Waterfall, or Hybrid SDLC.
  • You have excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Relevant certifications like PMP or PgMP are preferred.
  • Experience with integration projects and architecture is an asset.
  • You embrace change and continuously evolve your thinking and work methods.
  • You value collaboration, inclusivity, and building relationships that influence outcomes.
