Reporting to the VP, Financial Planning & Investment Reporting, the Director, Investment Reporting is a key member of the Total Plan Performance team, supporting the creation, generation, and enhancement of OMERS investment and analytics reporting and solutions. The position plays a critical role within the broader Corporate Finance team and requires significant collaboration, interaction, and involvement with various teams across the organization.

We believe that time together in the office is important for OMERS and Oxford, the strength of our employees, and the work we do for our pension members. Our hybrid work guideline requires teams to come to the office a minimum of 4 days per week.

As a member of this team, you will:

  • Provide thought leadership and proactive, insight-driven analysis on OMERS total fund investment performance to Corporate Finance leadership and other senior leaders in the organization.

  • Recommend and implement continuous improvements to the efficiency, timing, and reliability of reporting processes, including the use of AI tools.

  • Stay up-to-date on industry and analytics practices, including CFA investment performance standards, and determine impacts and changes to be undertaken and implemented to enhance the analytics framework.

  • Ensure daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports are created based on industry standards and completed and distributed with high quality and within the expected timelines. The types of reporting include performance and attribution reports, exposure reports, and internal and external compliance reports across various entity and asset classes that comprise the fund.

  • Manage and perform analysis for ad hoc requests from investment professionals and senior management, including preparing and delivering insightful presentations that clearly communicate key findings, trends, and recommendations to support strategic decision-making.

  • Own the Total Plan Dashboard, ensuring daily reporting is accurate and timely, and managing the roadmap for new dashboard functionality.

  • Provide hands-on day-to-day oversight, technical guidance, leadership, and coaching to a high-performing team, including recruiting, training, and development, and assessing performance effectiveness. The team consists of 2 senior managers and 5 analysts/senior analysts maintaining investment and analytics reports and solutions.

  • Work closely with members of the Financial Planning & Analysis and Total Portfolio Management teams to provide key Total Plan performance data as part of the annual Operating Plan and quarterly forecasting process.

  • Develop ongoing working relationships with Investment, Finance, and Risk colleagues to understand new product developments, strategies, policies, and other activities related to performance measurement and exposure reporting.

  • Create, manage, and review workflows and processes to ensure the team operates efficiently, with sufficient controls, documentation, and procedures, and is viewed as a nimble, insightful, and strategic partner.

  • Provide input and oversight into report design as it relates to calculation methodology, logic, edit checks, and efficiency that meet client requests and industry standards.

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • Over 7 years of experience in a senior role involving the management of investment reporting and performance measurement with strong investment product knowledge.

  • A university degree plus a professional designation (CFA or CIPM required; CPA is an asset but not required).

  • A strong understanding of investment products including bonds, equities, derivatives, and alternative investments such as private equity, real estate, and infrastructure, as well as related performance measurement standards and benchmark practices.

  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to build trusting relationships at all levels, including C-Suite executives.

  • Experience managing a team in an investment reporting environment covering performance, risk, and exposure.

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and research capabilities.

  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.

  • Expert-level technical skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

  • Knowledge of Power BI, Microsoft SQL Server, and Microsoft Co-Pilot is an asset.

  • Ability to operate in a fast-paced environment with numerous competing priorities and reporting deadlines.

  • Strong team player with a positive attitude, willingness to help colleagues, and a “go the extra mile” mindset.
