The Opportunity

As a Director, Institutional Private Assets, you will cultivate relationships with research teams and field offices of investment consultants to elevate Fidelity’s institutional brand and develop conviction in our alternative investing capabilities. Your coverage remit will focus on alternative investment consulting specialists but will also extend to the alternative research groups at traditional consultants. Additionally, you will assist the distribution team as a subject matter expert. Ideal candidates will have established relationships at these consultants and a background in selling or covering strategies in alternative asset classes.

What You’ll Do
  • Develop engagement strategies for consultants, outlining growth opportunities for our alternative/private asset (e.g., direct lending and credit alternative products) and addressing gating issues to deepen relationships.
  • Collaborate with Investment Portfolio Managers and sales teams to serve as an alternative specialist, understanding pricing structures and current product offerings for different customer types.
  • Lead the process for consultants’ review and underwriting of Fidelity strategies, including RFP responses, due diligence meetings, and investment reviews.
  • Serve as an internal spokesperson for your assigned consultants; provide feedback to internal partners.
  • Develop thought leadership content, partnering with marketing on white papers, case studies, marketing campaigns, and press releases.
  • Collaborate with marketing and sales to organize consultant-focused events such as roundtables, webinars, and conferences.
What We’re Looking For
  • 7+ years of experience working with institutional investment consultants and/or in alternatives in product development, relationship management, and sales.
  • University degree or equivalent experience.
  • Designations such as CFA, MBA, or CAIA are assets.
  • Experience in private markets, including hedge funds, real estate, private debt, BDCs, and direct lending; liquid alternatives experience is a plus.
  • Outstanding partnership skills and ability to collaborate across teams including portfolio managers, legal, compliance, and sales.
  • Credibility in influencing and developing business within the investment management sector or related financial services.
  • Effective communication skills for senior audiences, both written and verbal.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to long-term results.
