Director, Information Technology (Full Time) - Mississauga, ON
This position reports into the Vice President Americas Digital & IT with a strong matrix to the President - Linde Canada. The Director, IT is responsible for development of a Digital & IT strategy aligned to business objectives, operations of all IT systems, cyber security, and all IT projects whether under direct control, developed by the Digital team or provided by shared services. The position will oversee an operational budget of 5-10M OPEX and 2-5M capex annually in support of business of over 1B. The management of the IT Team is a key responsibility to ensure operational performance, security, and compliance with all SOX and audit controls.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Directs the Linde Canada IT team, responsible for Applications Development, Program/Project Management, Systems Engineering & Support ensuring customer satisfaction, productivity, creativity, and cost effectiveness.
- Acts as the primary representative into Linde’s Corporate ITS team and coordinates activities that align Global ITS Policies with BU business needs.
- Strategic role engages with business to develop Digital & IT strategy in alignment to BU goals.
- Hands on leader that drives execution of projects and operations while ensuring compliance with audit and cyber controls.
- The Director is responsible to develop and implement Linde Canada’s Digitalization agenda.
- This includes being the key counterpart for and working closely with the America’s Digital team to initiate, support, implement and drive the adoption of digital solutions.
- Manage strong relationships with other America’s BU IT leads to ensure alignment and replication opportunities are achieved.
- Is responsible for reviewing and assessing the current e-commerce solution and working together with the business to develop and implement a successful and sustainable e-commerce offering.
- Is responsible for development, management, planning and execution of complex projects to meet business goals.
- Provides senior / executive management, with integrated business perspective, assessing and consulting on risks and the effects of specific requirements on other business process and systems priorities.
- Ensures alignment of technology with short- and long-term business strategies and integration with Linde Global ITS strategies.
- Work closely with Productivity leads and initiate strategies to drive cost reduction and productivity improvements of current business systems, infrastructure and processes.
- Staff, train, coach, develop, manage, administer performance reviews, and salary increases of subordinate employees.
- Develop and deliver an annual budget for department, provide forecasts and monitor for variances.
- Responsible for programs from business case (planning) through to implementation consistent with the corporate program methodology.
- Manage the relationship with Linde Corporate and Regional ITS service providers.
- Responsible for all IT system operations, cyber security, and ensuring disaster recovery is in place for all critical systems.
- Proven experience working in agile environments, preferably having overseen or actively contributed to an automation or digitization journey within those frameworks.
- Demonstrated success in driving operational improvements through automation and digital transformation initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering or related field, minimum ten years IT management/leadership experience. Master's degree in computer science or related field is preferred.
- Proven track record implementing and managing enterprise applications.
- Experience supporting on prem and cloud applications leveraging Azure and AWS preferred.
- Strong analytical and logical problem-solving skills.
- Strong business acumen, with the ability to build a compelling business case for change.
- Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills, good organizational and project management skills; sound judgment; initiative; flexibility; detail-oriented; ability to work collaboratively in multi-functional teams.
- Demonstrated track record of executing complex technology programs, process reengineering, portfolio prioritization.
- Demonstrated consulting, influencing, and negotiating skills – ability to sell an idea and influence direction.
- Documented working experience with Microsoft Windows Environments, experience with Microsoft windows configuration, installation, maintenance, support and troubleshooting.
- Experience negotiating and managing IT service contracts greater than $1MM.
- Experience developing and implementing complex software platforms, integration platforms, and driving innovative solutions.
