Travel Alberta seeks a visionary Director, Indigenous Partnerships & Commercial Development to lead strategy and execution across Indigenous tourism initiatives in Alberta. You will drive investment opportunities, stakeholder engagement, and cross‑functional collaboration to advance economic reconciliation and regional growth.

The role requires senior leadership experience in a destination management context, strong financial acumen, and the ability to influence diverse partners and government

Qualifications

• Post-secondary degree in Business, Economics, Tourism, Indigenous Studies or related field.
• 7+ years of progressive Indigenous relations, economic development or tourism experience.
• Experience working with First Nations entrepreneurs and organizations.
• Strong leadership across strategic planning, program design and evaluation.
• Experience with government grants, funding, policy, or development programs.
• Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage budgets.

Responsabilités

• Lead Indigenous sector strategy aligned with Alberta's destination development goals.
• Develop pipelines of Indigenous tourism investment and commercial opportunities.
• Collaborate with ITA and AIOC for program implementation and outcomes.
• Prepare briefings and materials for senior leadership and Board as needed.
• Manage stakeholder engagement and partnerships across regions and zones.
• Oversee financial planning, governance, procurement, and reporting practices.
