Job summary

McMaster University seeks a collaborative Director of Advancement for the Faculty of Humanities and the Faculty of Social Sciences to lead fundraising strategy, translate priorities into cases for support, and grow the donor pipeline. You will guide a seven-person advancement team and work with two Deans to increase annual revenues toward the campaign goals.

You will lead the Civic Pillar, secure gifts at 250K+, and partner with University Advancement to plan and execute the next campaign.

Qualifications

• Proven track record in securing and closing $1M+ donations.
• Experience leading major giving fundraising initiatives.
• Commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and Indigenous engagement.
• Leadership of development professionals and donor-centered teams.
• Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead fundraising strategy for two faculties and the Civic Pillar.
• Translate priorities into compelling cases for support.
• Grow and steward the donor pipeline and major gifts.
• Coordinate with Deans and University Advancement leadership.
• Oversee budget, resources, and team performance.
• Collaborate across faculties to maximize fundraising impact.
