Job Summary

Reporting to the President, Canada the Director, Health & Safety , is a key member of the senior leadership team, responsible for developing, leading, and executing the company’s strategic health and safety initiatives. This role will oversee all safety operations across multiple locations and business entities, ensuring compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company policies while driving a culture of safety excellence throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement the corporate Health & Safety (H&S) strategy aligned with business goals and industry best practices across Canada.
  • Lead and manage the national or regional safety team, providing mentorship, training, and strategic direction.
  • Responsible for meeting and adhering to all Ramudden Global reporting requirements
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable federal, provincial / state, and local regulations (e.g., OHSA, WSIB, MOL, MTO, etc.).
  • Build and promote a proactive safety culture with a focus on continuous improvement, accountability, and engagement.
  • Conduct regular audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate safety hazards across job sites, yards, manufacturing facility, and equipment handling.
  • Oversee and refine safety training programs for all levels of staff, including new hire orientations, equipment handling, driver safety, and work zone protocols.
  • Manage incident investigation processes, root cause analysis, corrective action planning, and regulatory reporting.
  • Collaborate closely with operations, project management, people & culture, sales & estimating and equipment rental teams to embed safety into all business practices.
  • Maintain safety metrics, dashboards, and performance indicators for executive review and operational adjustments.
  • Represent the company with external stakeholders including clients, regulatory bodies, and industry associations on safety-related matters.
  • Support various business units in maintaining certifications specifically in COR and ISO
  • Monitor and manage health and safety-related expenses, ensuring cost control, budget adherence, and effective resource allocation across the organization
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, or related field (Master’s or MBA an asset).
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in health and safety leadership roles, preferably within the construction, traffic control, or industrial services sectors.
  • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent safety designation required.
  • Experience and knowledge in COR and ISO certificate programs
  • In-depth knowledge of traffic safety standards, temporary traffic control plans, construction zone safety, and equipment use regulations are strongly preferred.
  • Proven leadership skills with experience managing large teams and multi-site operations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities; experience with safety data systems and reporting tools.
  • Demonstrated success in fostering a high-performance safety culture.
