Job description

The Global Compliance Testing (GCT) Centre of Excellent (COE) is hiring a Director of Governance and Methodology to improve the quality and efficiency of testing engagements across the compliance function. The Director of Governance and Methodology is accountable for managing the global compliance testing methodology and training programs, ensuring consistent testing practices across the global compliance functions. They are responsible for effectively managing time and priorities in a dynamic, multi-tasking environment and staying current with regulatory standards, and frameworks such as IIA and COSO. This role may require some travel within North America and Asia for business needs.

This role will report to the Global Head of Compliance Testing, and is a hybrid role, where you’re expected to work in the office for a minimum of 3 days a week.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a robust global compliance testing methodology to help ensure the GCT COE is meeting the highest of quality standards.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain a set of global compliance testing templates

  • Manage the Compliance Testing COE SharePoint

  • Drive consistency and adherence to industry leading practices across all compliance testing engagements.

  • Engage with peers, particularly the testing team and the Chief Compliance Officers to gather valuable insights to drive enhancement to our testing methodology.

  • Provide guidance and support on testing practices and methodologies to ensure adoption of the global methodology

  • Support the development of annual test plan

  • Design, lead, and deliver comprehensive training programs that empower internal staff to enhance their technical skills and advance their professional growth.

  • Design, lead and execute on the Quality Assurance (QA) program to monitor adherence to the testing methodology, and to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Design and implement use of AI and other relevant technologies to enhance the testing program.

  • Manage ongoing improvement initiatives and projects within the GCT COE, considering alignment with other governance groups within Manulife.

  • Gather information for quarterly board reporting, which may include development of tracking of metrics

  • Support the gathering of information for regulatory exams when required.

Required Qualifications:

  • University Degree

  • 8 to 10 years of experience in an audit/assurance or related field.

  • Excellent knowledge of testing methodologies, control frameworks, risk management practices and regulatory requirements (particularly OSFI) relevant to Compliance

  • Experienced in managing and enhancing global methodologies and training programs within a corporate environment.

  • Strong understanding of control frameworks, testing methodologies, and risk concepts (inherent, residual, appetite, etc.)

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with individuals at all levels and different locations.

  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and integrity of the Global Compliance Testing program.

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in diverse environments and cultures, over a number of geographically dispersed office locations.

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and competing priorities to meet deadlines

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Recognized accounting (CA, CMA, CGA, CPA) or auditing (CIA, CISA) professional designation

Salary range is expected to be between

$105,750.00 CAD - $190,350.00 CAD
