Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Manager, Fire Safety & Protection Engineering to lead Eastern Canada projects from Montréal, Québec City or Ottawa. You will drive technical excellence, staff development, and client relationships in a fast‑growing practice.

You will balance risk, quality, and schedule while leveraging a national network of experts to deliver innovative building safety solutions in French and English.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Building Systems Engineering preferred).
• Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ).
• Minimum of ten years of relevant consulting engineering experience in fire protection or life safety.

Job Description Overview

Join AtkinsRéalis as a Manager, Fire Safety & Protection Engineering and play a key leadership role in the growth and delivery of fire protection and life safety projects across Eastern Canada. In this strategic position, you will lead a growing team, contribute to complex infrastructure projects, and collaborate with a national and global network of engineering experts to deliver innovative and sustainable solutions to our clients. This position may be based in either our Montréal, Québec City or Ottawa office.

Market Development

Provide leadership and support the development of priority markets for the Eastern Canada Fire Protection team. Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with clients, partners, and key stakeholders. Identify and pursue new business opportunities within targeted market sectors.

Business Development and Proposals

Lead or support the preparation of strategic, competitive proposals. Participate in client presentations, interviews, and negotiations related to business opportunities. Ensure a seamless transition from project award through project execution.

Team Leadership

Mentor, engage, and support the professional development of team members. Plan resources and coordinate priorities in collaboration with project teams. Foster a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing work environment focused on technical excellence.

Technical and Project Leadership

Act as a technical expert, practice leader, or project manager on complex assignments. Oversee the design and integration of fire protection and life safety systems. Ensure the quality, compliance, and constructability of technical deliverables.

Operational Performance

Drive project excellence with respect to quality, cost control, schedule performance, and risk management. Contribute to business planning activities and continuous improvement initiatives within the practice. Support the achievement of business objectives and client satisfaction targets.

National Collaboration

Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Canada to share expertise and resources. Support proposals and projects requiring inter-regional collaboration. Contribute to the growth and visibility of the national Fire Protection Community of Practice.

About you

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (Building Systems Engineering preferred). Licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) and member in good standing of the Ordre des ingénieurs du Québec (OIQ). Minimum of ten (10) years of relevant consulting engineering experience in fire protection engineering, life safety, or a related field. Strong knowledge of Canadian fire protection codes and standards, including NFPA, ULC, building codes, and fire codes. Demonstrated ability to lead technical teams, support employee development, and foster a collaborative and high-performance culture. Proven business development skills, including the ability to build client relationships, identify opportunities, and support the growth of a professional practice. Experience managing complex multidisciplinary projects while ensuring quality, compliance, and client satisfaction. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both French and English.* * This position requires knowledge of a language other than French, namely English, as it involves collaboration with members of the Canadian or global leadership team located outside Québec.
