About the Team

AGF’s Financial Reporting and Corporate Accounting team ensures timely and accurate financial reporting. The team maintains the integrity of financial results by establishing and executing robust internal controls and processes.

About the Role

Our Financial Reporting and Corporate Accounting Team has an exciting career opportunity for you in our Toronto office. Reporting to the VP, Financial Reporting and Corporate Accounting, you will work as part of a dynamic team with exposure to compensation accounting, financial statement review, result review analysis and technical accounting. We are seeking a dynamic, team-oriented individual who is focused, detail-oriented, and inquisitive. A team player who provides support and guidance to the team and has excellent technical skills coupled with the ability to simplify complex matters.

Your Responsibilities

Your responsibilities:

Financial Reporting:

  • Oversee the preparation and review of quarterly and annual public financial statements, press releases and liaise with external auditors on accounting policy formulation and disclosure alternatives as required.
  • Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly subsidiary financial and board reporting packages.
  • Take ownership of the technical accounting function by advising on complex accounting transactions and implementing new accounting policies.
  • Support external and internal auditors' inquiries on a quarterly and annual basis.

Accounting/Analysis:

  • Oversee monthly operational results, including analysis on revenue and SG&A, review key reconciliations and supporting documentation.
  • Review accounting research and analyze significant contracts and complex accounting transactions as required.
  • Review budget/ forecast and liaise with HR on compensation matters.
  • Recommend and apply best practices on continuous improvement efforts in financial reporting and accounting.
  • Respond to ad hoc requests from businesses group
  • Manage the team to ensure timely and accurate delivery of information and provide leadership support in resoling issues and team inquiries
Your qualifications
  • CPA designation
  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in industry or public accounting
  • Experience in a Big 4 accounting firm an asset and/or financial service industry experience
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to synthesize complex transactions
  • Strong time and project management, communication (written & verbal), and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to adapt, learn quickly and work independently on multiple competing priorities
  • Experience with Workday Financials and/or Adaptive Insights would be advantageous
