As a valued leader in the Financial Institutions Securitizations corporate credit team, you will be exposed to diverse deal flow across industries, structures, regions, and risks. The securitization portfolio involves complex, highly structured credits supporting SPV relationships of BNS’s asset-backed commercial paper conduits or on balance sheet. Your role includes reviewing loans, providing recommendations to senior management, and performing risk analysis, portfolio monitoring, deal structuring, negotiations, and presentations at Senior Credit Committee.

The Director oversees the Securitizations portfolio for Global Risk Management, reporting to a VP, ensuring effective portfolio management within acceptable risk levels through sound credit judgment and compliance with regulations and policies.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and foster a customer-focused culture to deepen client relationships and leverage bank-wide resources.
  2. Manage and adjudicate credit portfolios, prepare and present credit recommendations to mitigate risk.
  3. Conduct industry analysis, review lending guidelines, and prepare reports for senior management and boards.
  4. Provide insights and participate in discussions at Credit Committees.
  5. Maintain expertise in program sponsors, industries, and products to ensure portfolio quality and profitability.
  6. Incorporate the bank’s risk appetite and culture into daily activities and decisions.
  7. Create operational environments that ensure effective controls and compliance with operational, regulatory, and conduct risks.
  8. Partner with the VP to build a high-performance team through training, mentoring, and inclusive leadership.
Qualifications:
  • MBA, CMA, CFA, or CA preferred, with progressive credit or banking experience.
  • Strong knowledge of credit structures, protections, and securitization methodologies.
  • Excellent financial analysis and risk assessment skills, especially for securitization attributes.
  • Experience with various originators and industries supported by securitization vehicles.
  • Legal documentation expertise (ISDA, securitization docs).
  • Knowledge of bank policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Technological proficiency with data management systems and risk models.
  • Strong communication skills for debates, presentations, and influencing senior stakeholders.
  • People management skills with a focus on coaching and development.
