A globally respected financial institution is seeking a Director, Financial Control to lead its Canadian finance team. This is a high-visibility role responsible for overseeing financial and regulatory reporting, driving continuous improvement in financial controls, and contributing to the broader business strategy.

What You’ll Lead

  • Full ownership of financial and regulatory reporting , including OSFI, IFRS, and JGAAP.
  • Oversight of financial and product control frameworks , ensuring accuracy and integrity of financial data.
  • Act as the local Tax Compliance Officer , managing corporate tax reporting and filings.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team , fostering a culture of excellence and growth.
  • Ensure robust internal controls and audit readiness across financial functions.
  • Serve as a key liaison with regulators, external auditors, and global finance stakeholders .

What You Bring

  • CPA or CA designation required.
  • Minimum 3 years in a Big 4 firm in Canada.
  • 3+ years of financial control / accounting experience within a Canadian bank (Schedule I or III strongly preferred).
  • Proven leadership experience — 2+ years managing and mentoring high-performing teams.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory reporting , taxation , and hedge accounting .
  • Solid understanding of financial instruments and accounting / reporting systems (Oracle a strong asset).
  • A mindset for continuous improvement, innovation , and challenging the status quo.
