Position: Director, Finance

As the Director of Finance, you will provide leadership and oversight in all aspects of CICan’s financial services, including planning and budgeting, accounting, reporting, treasury functions, procurement, and risk management. You will ensure these functions are performed in a manner that protects the organization’s reputation, safeguards its financial assets, and maintains financial viability. You will work closely with senior leaders and maintain collaborative relationships to meet current and future needs, modernize financial processes, and ensure agile services within a high-performance team environment.

You will also play a highly visible role throughout the organization, supporting staff at all levels and contributing to corporate planning, policy discussions, and strategic objectives as a member of CICan’s Directors’ Table.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience
  • At least 8 years of relevant experience managing financial operations, including external audits, financial reporting, and financial systems administration
  • Proven budgetary and fiscal responsibility
  • Experience in developing and implementing financial strategies and processes
  • Strong networking and relationship-building skills across organizational levels
  • Experience in employee management, including recruitment, coaching, and performance management
Knowledge Requirements
  • Finance concepts such as cost accounting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Procurement principles
  • Financial management practices including cash management and banking
  • Investment fundamentals
  • Change management
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and financial accounting systems
  • Knowledge of Canadian college and institute networks (asset)
Educational and Professional Requirements
  • Post-secondary education in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related fields
  • Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
Compensation and Location

Salary: $110,475 to $146,340 (MGT II)

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Location: Ottawa, Ontario (hybrid work environment)

Language Requirements

Bilingual – English and French (written and verbal)
