What is this opportunity?

The Leadership team is focused on identifying and developing leaders to enable RBC’s winning culture. As a collective team, we: develop and enable the enterprise leadership strategy by executing and advancing RBC’s talent and performance practices, delivering leadership development programs and leading executive on-boarding and development.

As the Director, Executive Development, you will report to the VP, Leadership and focus on strengthening alignment and developing the capabilities of RBC executive leaders to expand their skills and confidently lead their teams forward to deliver on our bold ambitions.

YOU will be accountable to help deliver on RBC’s Leadership Strategy and will:

  • Partner across the organization to design and deliver a best-in-class executive development and onboarding strategy including curating experiences, programs and resources that meet emerging needs.
  • Act as a strategic advisor to HR Business Partners on development solutions to support and accelerate executive leaders in key moments that matter.
  • Enhance our comprehensive executive assessment framework to identify, develop and grow talent – and use these insights to offer recommendations and propose executive-level development support and plans.
  • Be accountable to continually evolve and elevate the quality of our executive coaching bench, ensure holistic, high touch and impactful support and measure the impact of the investment.
  • Define key success metrics to evaluate the effectiveness and business impact of development programs to continuously improve our approach
  • Act as a Subject Matter Expert (SME) and change agent to help solution, implement and operationalize key leadership priorities.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with third-party providers to stay ahead of market trends and bring expert insights into our approach.

What do you need to succeed?

Must have:

  • University degree or related business experience
  • 5-7 years of relevant executive-facing experience in leadership development, organizational psychology, talent management and/or coaching
  • Strong business acumen and demonstrated strategic advisory capability including influencing a range of senior leaders and stakeholders
  • Strong communication, presentation and storytelling skills (oral and written) with the ability to express ideas clearly and concisely
  • Ability to constructively challenge while building and maintaining strong relationships
  • Ability to navigate and adapt through ambiguity, complexity and change
  • Be a strong team player, act as one team and speak up for the good of RBC

Nice to have:

  • Accredited coach (or certification in progress)
  • CHRP, CHRL or other HR designation is an asset
  • HR Business Partner experience
  • Bilingual (English and French)
