Position Overview
The Director, Event Technology I (DET I) is responsible for achieving revenue and profitability goals for assigned locations. This role ensures the team delivers world-class service while maintaining strong relationships with venue personnel to enhance business relationships. The DET promotes high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement, fostering a collaborative environment that values learning and quality. The position reports to the Area Director, Venues or RVP, Venues.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Manage operations focusing on revenue maximization and cost control to meet financial goals.
- Utilize operational and financial reports for effective decision-making.
- Coordinate invoicing and ensure timely payment processing.
- Prepare sales forecasts and participate in business reviews.
- Manage P&L and develop strategies to address deficiencies or grow the business.
Operations Management
- Oversee daily floor operations, including scheduling, setup, operation, and strikes.
- Ensure equipment and services meet quality standards and client specifications.
- Anticipate and address equipment challenges proactively.
- Maintain inventory control and safety standards.
- Participate in operational meetings.
Sales Management
- Collaborate on sales strategies to maximize revenue.
- Prepare and deliver presentations and proposals.
- Support customer meetings and site visits.
- Understand and incorporate event cost structures.
- Maintain accurate customer information in CRM systems.
- Stay updated on new products and technology.
- Report on performance metrics to senior management.
Customer Service
- Build and maintain relationships with customers and venue personnel.
- Oversee event execution personnel.
- Ensure customer needs are met and equipment functions properly.
- Monitor events and ensure professionalism.
Technical Ability
- Oversee technical aspects and troubleshoot equipment/software issues.
- Serve as on-site technical expert.
- Assist with operations as needed.
People Development
- Promote a culture of high performance and continuous improvement.
- Manage performance, staffing, and training.
- Provide coaching and development opportunities.
Job Qualifications
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s preferred.
- 3+ years of audiovisual experience.
- 1+ years of supervisory experience.
- Customer service or hospitality experience preferred.
- Sales experience is a plus.
- Knowledge of live event AV equipment.
- Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office.
- Leadership skills and customer focus.
- Valid driver’s license for operating company vehicles.
Additional Information
- Salary Range: $64,487 - $78,997.
- Work in hotel/convention center environment with irregular hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to heights, high-end AV equipment, and varying noise levels.
