Please note this role will work in a hybrid environment. The successful candidate must be located near a Canadian Blood Services site and will be working a mixture of on-site and off-site work based on the parameters for our operations to meet the needs of our donors, our staff, and our communities. Currently, employees are expected to have an in-person presence for at least 40% of their work time. This requirement may vary depending upon circumstances.

About the role :

Canadian Blood Services is looking for a Temporary Full-time Director, Equipment & Automation to join our Supply Chain division. This leadership role ensures the operational readiness and technological advancement of our infrastructure, supporting our mission as Canada’s Biological Lifeline.

As Director, you’ll lead teams responsible for equipment services, fleet management, and integrated supply chain systems. You’ll play a key role in ensuring that our tools, vehicles, and technologies are safe, efficient, and future-ready.

We seek a strategic, hands-on leader with experience managing complex equipment and fleet programs, driving technology adoption, and leading cross-functional teams. Experience in regulated environments, capital asset management, and supply chain systems (preferably SAP) is highly desirable.

Key responsibilities :
  1. Align equipment, fleet, and technology operations with CBS’s strategic priorities, ensuring safety, compliance, and efficiency.
  2. Oversee the lifecycle of equipment and vehicles, managing vendor relationships and capital planning.
  3. Identify and implement emerging technologies and automation solutions to enhance supply chain performance.
  4. Manage the supply chain systems team to support operational effectiveness and transformation initiatives.
  5. Foster cross-functional collaboration and effective communication during change initiatives.
  6. Develop talent within your teams, promoting accountability and continuous improvement.
  7. Represent the division in enterprise-wide initiatives, providing insights and strategic input.
Desired qualifications :
  1. Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
  2. Minimum of 10 years of leadership experience in supervising professional and unionized staff, quality management, process design, and project management, preferably in pharmaceutical, medical device, or biologic manufacturing environments.
  3. Experience in regulated environments (GMP manufacturing).
  4. Expertise in equipment and automated systems qualification.
  5. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  6. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in English.
  7. Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage organizational priorities.
  8. Good organizational and time management skills.

An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
