The Director, Engineering and Technical Services, is responsible for strategic direction, operational performance, and innovation in the areas of engineering, maintenance, and technical services. They ensure the sustainability and alignment of their sector’s activities with the organization's overall objectives, while promoting efficiency, safety, and sustainable development of equipment and infrastructure.

An overview of your new position

  • Define the vision, strategic objectives, and long-term action plans (1 year and beyond) for the department.
  • Coordinate and optimize engineering, maintenance, and technical service activities in line with production needs.
  • Implement and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to equipment reliability, intervention efficiency, and engineering projects.
  • Adapt operational models to maximize performance, reduce costs, and improve productivity.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards and internal procedures in safety, environment, and quality.
  • Promote a proactive health and safety culture within technical teams.
  • Supervise and support managers and supervisors in their development and daily activities.
  • Develop team skills, foster accountability, and maintain a motivating work climate.
  • Prepare and manage the departmental budget in line with strategic priorities, capital investment projects (CAPEX), and infrastructure needs.
  • Identify opportunities for technical cost optimization while ensuring operational continuity.
  • Promote collaboration with other departments (production, quality, procurement, etc.) to ensure an integrated approach.
  • Play a key role in continuous improvement, technology implementation, and industrial transformation projects.
  • Anticipate the need for specialized workforce and succession planning.
  • Actively participate in the recruitment, onboarding, and development of team members.
  • Communicate the organization's technical vision and ensure its integration into daily operations.
  • Act as an ambassador of organizational values.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, technical partners, and regulatory authorities.
  • Integrate innovative technologies to enhance the reliability, safety, and sustainability of facilities.

You are the ideal candidate if you have

  • University degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Member of a professional engineering order.
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry (an asset).
  • Proven experience in strategic leadership, engineering project management, and continuous improvement.
  • Strong understanding of technical, operational, and regulatory issues.
  • Mastery of industrial engineering methods, tools, and standards.
  • Bilingual (French and English) as frequent communication with international clients and suppliers is required.
  • Ability to define a long-term direction aligned with company objectives.
  • Ability to interpret complex data (KPIs, technical diagnostics, operational performance).
  • Aptitude for implementing practical solutions to improve reliability, efficiency, and cost.
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead multidisciplinary teams.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects and requests simultaneously in a complex environment.
  • Strong adherence to deadlines, quality standards, budgets, and internal procedures.
  • Proactive attitude toward proposing and implementing technical or organizational innovations.
  • Ability to make quick and effective decisions in urgent or critical contexts.
  • Ability to adapt in a constantly evolving environment (technological, regulatory, economic).
