Job summary

RBC in Toronto seeks a Director to lead the strategic re-engineering and development of Economic Capital models for wholesale and retail portfolios, replacing legacy systems with a modern in-house solution. You will serve as the SME, guiding model design, methods, and implementation while coordinating multiple internal partners.

This leadership role requires strong technical depth in EC modeling, a track record of delivering large-scale projects, and the ability to communicate complex concepts

Qualifications

• 7-10 years' experience in credit economic capital modeling and regulatory capital frameworks.
• Proven track record of leading model development initiatives and technical projects.
• Translate complex concepts for senior stakeholders and regulators.
• Experience managing cross-functional teams across large modeling programs.
• Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, CS, Finance).
• Nice-to-have: FRM or CFA certifications; published EC or credit risk research.

Responsibilities

• Define methodological frameworks for wholesale and retail EC models.
• Provide SME leadership on EC theory, practice, and regulatory expectations.
• Coordinate cross-functional model development with IT, validation, and business partners.
• Manage the EC program roadmap and governance checkpoints.
• Collaborate with EMRM on validation strategy and timelines.
• Communicate strategic rationale to senior management, Steering Committee, and regulators.
• Coordinate IT infrastructure requirements for model development, testing, and production environments.
• Explore the use of AI for EC model research and implementation.
