Job Summary

FRESH IDEAS (a division of Compass Group) is hiring a Director of Dining Services to lead the day-to-day foodservice operations on the campus of LYON COLLEGE. You will manage and lead a team of employees, oversee client relationships, ensure profitability, and develop talent.

Batesville is home to Lyon College, known for its picturesque campus and community events, including the Scottish Festival. The town offers outdoor activities like hiking, canoeing, caving, and fishing, with the White River as a scenic backdrop. Batesville hosts vibrant community events such as the Ozark Foothills FilmFest and the Arkansas Scottish Festival, and transforms into the "Christmas Capital of Arkansas" during winter with the White River Wonderland, featuring lights, carriage rides, and ice skating. Dining options range from Southern comfort food to international flavors.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage salaried managers and hourly associates in the Food Service Department
• Oversee the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of the account
• Interview, hire, train associates; plan, assign, and direct work; appraise performance; reward and discipline; address complaints and resolve issues
• Prepare and manage the annual budget
• Utilize company systems for reports such as inventory, cash reports, production records, payroll, and time-keeping
• Oversee and participate in food and beverage preparation, ensuring standards for quality, presentation, sanitation, safety (HACCP and OSHA compliance), and portion control
• Perform other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. Degree in Food Services Technology/Management or related field; or A.A. Degree with four years of related experience
• Five to seven years of direct foodservice operational management experience, including inventory and purchasing control
• Strong knowledge of food and catering trends, quality, sanitation, food costs, and presentation
• Previous P&L accountability or contract-managed service experience preferred
• Strong supervisory, leadership, management, and coaching skills
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to communicate effectively with management, clients, customers, and staff
• Financial, budgeting, accounting, and computational skills
• Proficient in computer programs, Microsoft Office, email, and internet
• ServSafe Certification
