What is the Opportunity?

The Director of Technical Digital Product - Communications & Digital Engagement, is responsible for transforming RBC Insurance digital technologies. This role requires a deep understanding of financial market technology and future state technical architecture, advocating for target systems across our digital product suite.

Currently, messaging to clients and advisors is siloed, lacking centralized ownership and governance, leading to inconsistent experiences and scalability issues. This role will own communication and document infrastructure as a digital product, driving vision, strategy, governance, and platform coordination to enable privacy-compliant communications at scale.

The candidate will liaise between technology teams, digital product teams, and business leads, surfacing technological risks and driving digital transformation initiatives. The role involves working internally and with vendors/suppliers.

Responsibilities
  1. Own Communications as a Product: Develop a unified strategy for outbound communications and document workflows across channels.
  2. Build & Operationalize a Communication Orchestration Engine: Create a centralized layer for message triggering, deduplication, and cross-channel coordination.
  3. Overhaul Document Management & Delivery Infrastructure: Build a centralized document inventory, standardize templates, and ensure linkage with identity platforms.
  4. Integrate Consent, Preferences & Suppression Logic: Govern communication preferences, integrating with privacy teams and compliance frameworks.
  5. Implement Scalable Access & Permissions Governance: Build role-based access models tied to enterprise identity systems.
  6. Create a Unified Intake, Triage & SLA Model: Develop workflows, KPIs, and operational playbooks for demand management.
  7. Operationalize Communication Monitoring & Incident Response: Establish real-time monitoring, alerting, and incident response frameworks.
  8. Build Analytics & Optimization Capabilities: Partner with analytics teams for dashboards, A/B testing, and performance improvements.
  9. Ensure End-to-End Documentation & Knowledge Sharing: Maintain documentation, onboarding guides, and training materials.
  10. Align Strategic Communication Roadmap with Enterprise Transformation: Synchronize communication strategies with digital experience priorities and participate in governance councils.
  11. Additional Responsibilities: Manage product backlogs, define product vision, collaborate with development teams, and guide digital strategy and architecture.
Qualifications
