What you’ll be doing
As the Director of Data Operations & Governance you will lead the data governance, data collection, automation, and data measurement activities for the Enterprise ESG team.
Related to Data Operations, you will help to strategically define, develop, and maintain processes and controls for successful data quality, data collection, data sharing, and reporting. You will be responsible for overseeing Business Managed Technologies (BMT), including implementation and enhancement of data collection platforms and tools, training and change management, and establishment of processes and controls ensuring adherence to CIBC BMT policies. You will establish and lead quarterly ESG data collection, reporting, and analytics.
This role will also be responsible for improving the quality and managing the protection of data and information assets, as well as establishing and ensuring adherence to the CIBC data governance policies and procedures for Enterprise ESG.

How you'll succeed
Strategy & Data Governance: Provide leadership on data governance initiatives for the Enterprise ESG team. Possess a strategic point of view of how data and related ownership of that data enables Enterprise ESG and how we collect and manage data from internal stakeholders across CIBC, establishing and maintaining data sharing agreements. This includes executive stakeholder management to ensure alignment on data governance and strategy. This role will be the data owner / steward for Enterprise ESG and will be accountable for leading data creation, updates, metadata management, data quality, and data stewardship. In addition, the Director of Data Operations & Governance owns the development and maintenance of artifacts, including but not limited to, business rules for Critical Data Elements (CDEs), technical data quality rules for monitoring, data quality issue escalations, triage, and remediation, and data dictionaries. This role will work closely with the Administration Center of Excellence (COE) to stay informed about all updates from the enterprise and work with them to assess the implications of these updates on data governance and strategy within the Enterprise ESG framework.
Data Operations & Processes: You will be responsible for leading Business Managed Technologies (BMT) owned by Enterprise ESG, including ownership, implementation, and enhancement of data collection platforms and tools, training, and change management. The Director of Data Operations & Governance will own, establish, and maintain processes and controls ensuring adherence to relevant CIBC policies including but not limited to BMT policies, CIBC’s Control Framework, as well as data related policies, standards, and adoption requirements. The role will be the owner of the BMT program for Enterprise ESG, including all cyclical reporting activities and executive stakeholder management.
KPI Monitoring & Analytics: You will establish and lead ESG data collection and reporting. This includes owning engagement with key stakeholders and executives across CIBC to identify appropriate KPIs, including executive approvals. The Director of Data Operations & Governance will take a strategic view of KPIs, analyzing and assessing trends, and reporting key findings and implications to senior executives. You will leverage innovation data analytics tools, owning relationships with partners in Technology to advance and enhance Enterprise ESG analytics capabilities.

You have experience of 5+ years with data governance capabilities such as data governance, data stewardship, data quality, analytics, metrics development and reporting. It’s an asset if you have at least 3 years process engineering experience, ideally in financial services, management consulting, or ESG, with strong process development and organizational skills.
