Job description

Xplore Inc. is Canada’s fibre, 5G, and satellite broadband company for rural living. Xplore is committed to the relentless pursuit of an improved broadband experience for all Canadians. Xplore is building a world‑class fibre optic and 5G wireless network to enable innovative broadband services for better every day rural living, for today and future generations.

As Director, Data Analytics, you will define and lead Xplore’s analytics vision, with the focus on directly supporting the Customer Office through trusted, actionable, and timely insights. This position follows a hybrid work model requiring three days a week at our Markham office. The role is critical to helping the business better understand customer behaviour, improve customer experience, optimise sales and service performance, and support data‑driven decision‑making across the organisation.

You will work in close partnership with leaders and teams across Customer Office, Sales, Marketing, Product, Finance, and Network, translating business priorities into scalable analytics capabilities and data products. You will also lead the continued modernisation of Xplore’s analytics ecosystem by accelerating time‑to‑insight, consolidating fragmented reporting, establishing enterprise single sources of truth, and advancing the migration from legacy on‑prem environments to a cloud‑based enterprise data platform.

We are seeking a leader with strong executive presence and a clear, confident point of view to lead our Customer Analytics Data function and influence decision‑making at the highest levels of the organisation. This leader will bring both strategic vision and hands‑on expertise, translating complex data into actionable insights that drive business outcomes. This role also requires a highly collaborative leader who can bridge business strategy and technical execution, build strong stakeholder relationships, and foster a culture of accountability, partnership, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Business Partnership & Customer Office Enablement
  • Serve as the senior analytics leader supporting the business, including field operations and installation management, customer care and contact centres, customer experience, and related business functions.
  • Partner closely with business leaders to understand strategic priorities, operational pain points, and growth opportunities, and translate them into impactful analytics roadmaps and deliverables.
  • Build strong, trusted relationships across the business to ensure analytics initiatives are aligned to enterprise priorities and deliver measurable business value.
  • Lead the development of insights, reporting, and data products that improve customer acquisition, retention, service effectiveness, revenue performance, and overall customer experience.
  • Act as a connector across departments, ensuring alignment on business definitions, KPIs, and data usage to support consistent decision‑making.
Strategy & Leadership
  • Define and own Xplore’s Customer Office analytics strategy, roadmap, and operating model, aligned to business outcomes and enterprise OKRs.
  • Build and lead a high‑performing, multidisciplinary analytics organisation spanning data engineering, analytics engineering, BI/visualisation, and data governance.
  • Foster a culture of customer‑centricity, collaboration, craftsmanship, reliability, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Help establish and mature a Data Centre of Excellence (COE) to promote best practices in analytics delivery, data ownership, governance, and product‑oriented ways of working.
  • Partner closely with the broader Data & AI organisation to identify, prioritise, and unlock AI and automation opportunities enabled by high‑quality, well‑governed data assets, helping accelerate intelligent decisioning and operational efficiency across the Customer Office.
  • Operate in a dual‑alignment model, acting as a trusted analytics leader to the Chief Customer Officer (dotted reporting line) while partnering closely with the rest of the teams within the broader Data & AI function to ensure alignment with enterprise data strategy, platform standards, and AI‑driven innovation.
  • Champion a stakeholder‑first approach to analytics, ensuring teams engage early, communicate clearly, and deliver solutions that are practical, scalable, and business relevant.
Enterprise Analytics & Self‑Serve Enablement
  • Establish and expand enterprise‑wide single sources of truth for key business metrics and reporting, reducing duplication, reconciliation effort, and fragmented reporting.
  • Implement a self‑serve analytics layer through curated data products, semantic models, trusted marts, and strong documentation that enable business users to explore data confidently and independently.
  • Standardise KPI definitions, reporting logic, and data consumption patterns in partnership with business stakeholders and data owners.
  • Drive adoption of enterprise analytics tools and capabilities across the organisation, with particular focus on empowering Customer Office stakeholders with accessible and actionable insights.
Modern Data Platform & Transformation
  • Lead the migration of analytics and reporting workloads from legacy on‑prem systems to Azure Databricks with Lakehouse architecture including governance through Unity Catalog.
  • Consolidate disparate reporting solutions and ad‑hoc Excel‑based processes into a scalable enterprise analytics platform with modern visualisation, AI‑assisted capabilities, and robust row‑level security.
  • Define and enforce standards across the analytics stack for development practices, code quality, CI/CD, testing, observability, and cost governance.
  • Ensure the analytics platform is designed not just for technical modernisation, but to better serve business users with faster, more reliable, and more actionable insights.
Technical Leadership & Delivery
  • Provide leadership across the full analytics and data product lifecycle, from discovery and design through implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing optimisation.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to gather requirements, prioritise use cases, and deliver high‑quality analytics solutions that meet both technical and business needs.
  • Establish monitoring, service expectations, and support processes for pipelines, semantic models, and BI assets to improve reliability and stakeholder confidence.
  • Balance strategic transformation with hands‑on delivery oversight to ensure progress against roadmap commitments.
Governance, Security & Compliance
  • Implement and strengthen enterprise data governance practices, including cataloguing, lineage, stewardship, data quality, and access policies.
  • Define and enforce metadata, documentation, and tagging standards to improve traceability, transparency, and cost optimisation.
  • Ensure analytics solutions comply with privacy, security, and regulatory requirements through strong role‑based access controls, encryption, auditability, and lifecycle management.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to improve data accountability and stewardship across domains, especially where customer‑related data is involved.
What Success Looks Like
  • Customer Office leaders rely on trusted analytics to make faster, more informed decisions.
  • Enterprise reporting is standardised around clear, governed definitions and single sources of truth.
  • Business stakeholders see the analytics team as a strategic partner and enabler, not just a delivery function.
  • Legacy reporting is modernised into a scalable cloud analytics platform.
  • Self‑serve analytics adoption increases, while manual reconciliation and fragmented reporting decreases.
  • The analytics organisation operates with strong stakeholder alignment, clear priorities, and measurable business impact.
Condition Of Employment

As a condition of employment and to comply with industry‑related data security standards, this position is subject to the successful completion of a criminal background check. Details will be supplied to applicants as they move through the selection process. Xplore is committed to creating an accessible environment and will accommodate disabilities during the selection process. Please let your recruiter know during the selection process of any accommodation needs.
