Position Summary

Risk Management works closely with our business partners as the second line of defense to manage the Bank's risk exposure within our stated Risk Appetite, while allowing the business to achieve its goals. This role will lead the measurement and management of credit risk across the enterprise.

MAJOR ELEMENTS OF THE ROLE

Key accountabilities of this position include:

Strategic Leadership

  • Define and execute a comprehensive data analytics strategy aligned with the Bank’s strategic roadmap and credit risk appetite.
  • Provide strategic insights to executive stakeholders, ensuring data-driven decision-making supports the bank’s growth and risk management objectives.
  • Proactively work across the organization to understand new lending products, business processes and data sources to ensure the efficacy of the reporting and analytics framework.

Risk Management & Optimization

  • Provides sound portfolio oversight by ensuring that the Bank’s asset quality meets stated objectives and develops Key Risk Indicators which measures that risk profile remains within the Bank’s Risk Appetite.
  • Develops and manages credit risk models in-line with the Bank’s Model Risk policies.
  • Leads and communicates data-driven insights based on changes or trends in the exposure status of the Bank’s credit risks through advanced reporting tools, presentations, and dashboards that support executive decision-making.
  • Enhance credit risk reporting and contribute to credit risk dashboard design, working to increase automation and ensure data accuracy and effective controls.
  • Optimize credit policies using statistical analysis to support proactive management of loan losses and defaults and improve decision-making timelines.

Team Development & Collaboration

  • Build, lead, and nurture a high-performing team of data analysts fostering a culture of innovation, continuous improvement and partnership.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, Risk, Finance, and Operations, to integrate analytics into the organization’s core functions.
  • Build out credit risk analytics capabilities, with an emphasis on the creation of modular tools that can be leveraged for forward-looking and ‘what-if’ analysis.
  • Maintain a holistic view of the business to ensure the analytics team focuses on high-impact opportunities.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Degree in Quantitative Finance, Data Science, or Statistics.
  • 8+ years banking experience, particularly in data analytics, retail credit risk, and real estate-secured lending.
  • Expertise in statistical modeling, machine learning, and data visualization tools (e.g., Python, R, SQL, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Proven experience in managing data analysts, data scientists or data engineers across diverse functions.
  • Continuous improvement mindset with ability to lead multiple priorities with competing timelines and develop creative solutions.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to deliver executive-level presentations and influence stakeholders.
