Job summary

The Court Services Division of the Nova Scotia Department of Justice seeks a Director, Court Services, reporting to the Executive Director and serving on the Division's Senior Management Team. You will oversee courthouse operations and program delivery province-wide.

You will guide strategic direction, staff leadership, and relationships with the judiciary and external stakeholders while ensuring compliance with policies and LEADS leadership behaviours.

Qualifications

• This role requires a university degree in an appropriate discipline and several years of progressive management experience at a senior level.
• Experience in finance, HR, facilities, project management, program development and regulatory/policy development is desirable.
• A law degree and prior legal experience is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

• Ensure cost-effective provision of court services and support the Division's strategic goals.
• Provide strategic and operational direction to staff and collaborate with senior officials, judiciary, and legal community.
• Lead planning, service improvements, and problem solving across the Division.
• Manage delivery of programs and services to courts while upholding judicial independence.
• Develop and sustain relationships with clients and stakeholders with diverse interests.
• Coordinate and implement legislation, policy, and program development across court services.
• Lead provincial family and criminal law programs and services.
• Oversee externally funded programs delivered under MOUs and report on activities.
• Participate in Federal/Provincial/Territorial committees and task groups.
