Job Description

The Director, Corporate Maintenance, is responsible for working with all businesses and their plant sites to ensure we are attaining and maintaining world-class maintenance systems and standards. Working out of Head Office in Dieppe NB, the Director of Maintenance will be working directly with the various J. D. Irving, Limited businesses and site maintenance teams to establish policy and permanent processes by identifying best practices. The Director will ensure process standardization via assessment and be responsible for the Maintenance KPI’s across the organization. This role is required to work with many levels of management, engineering, production staff, and maintenance staff throughout all the sites. This role will be working closely with plant managers across all sites and business directors of maintenance to ensure programs and solutions to issues are in place

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with the business Directors of Maintenance and all site maintenance groups to establish a consistent and replicable companywide reliability maintenance management system. It will encompass all aspects of reliability maintenance for all our operations. This includes the optimization of MRO inventory management while supporting MTTR improvement.

Establish and deploy of an auditing program, key elements of reliability, using existing IMS programs that compare our current systems to world-class organizations.

Establish equipment and facility continuous improvement systems to strengthen reliability and upgrade capabilities of our people, systems, and capital and maintenance standards.

Maintain a 5-year asset plan across all businesses and operations to identify obsolescence priorities, infrastructure risks, and modernization requirements. This includes prioritization of safety initiatives around the assets.

Coordinate on-going education and internal/external industry and professional benchmarking, including involvement of various members of the groups team as opportunity arises. This includes conducting Reliability Forums across the network and contributing to the improvement of safety practices around the assets.

Assign projects among business directors, site maintenance managers and their teams according to specialized training and project requirements.

Travel is required within Canada and United States to complete routine visits of the different facilities.

Qualifications
  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering, or related discipline.
  • 12+ years of relevant experience.
  • Strong technical ability with an understanding of our various manufacturing processes and asset types.
  • Experience in maintenance and asset management in a manufacturing environment is required.
  • P. Eng designation would be considered an asset.
  • Systems aptitude in JD Edwards and excellent PC skills are a must,
  • Microsoft Excel skills (intermediate to expert proficiency level)
  • Comfortable in presenting to senior level audiences.
  • Strong coaching and mentoring skills.
  • Ability to influence without authority
