Director Content Marketing

Come help shape the growth of Johnson Outdoors by leading the global content strategies for our iconic outdoor brands in Fishing, Watercraft, Camping, and Diving!

The person in this role leads global content strategy and oversees plan development and execution to drive both brand and business performance goals, including content development and acquisition approaches. They will drive content marketing maturity by establishing best-in-class practices for content, influencer, and affiliate marketing and developing a community of practice among the content team. The Director will ensure programs align with Business Unit and eCommerce goals and drive Johnson Outdoors content marketing maturity.

Key Responsibilities:
Content Marketing
  • Strategy definition: Develops and drives comprehensive global content marketing strategies focused on reaching and engaging current and new audiences for all brands to improve brand perception and generate revenue. Collaborates with Integrated Marketing and Performance Media Teams to align strategies with business and marketing goals.
  • Planning: Oversees the development and implementation of content marketing plans, including content distribution, to meet goals, seeking cross-functional input.
  • Brand Alignment: Ensures all content is consistent with the brand voice across all channels for Johnson Outdoors' brands.
  • Influencer Management: Drives and leads the global, cross-business strategy, oversees plan development and implementation, and monitors performance, including affiliate marketing programs.
  • Social media: Sets and manages the global social media strategy and performance against KPIs.
  • Community of Practice: Develops and facilitates a community among content marketers to share success metrics, best practices, and foster discussion.
  • Best practice integration: Provides thought leadership, establishes and oversees adherence to best practices, including external partnerships and content optimization.
  • Tool management: Owns tools used for content development and distribution.
  • Measurement and alignment: Collaborates with Digital Analytics to measure impact, test content approaches, and optimize strategies across brands.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory/Management Responsibility:
  • Handles HR responsibilities such as hiring, performance evaluations, and staff development.
  • Develops and manages departmental budgets and processes.
Knowledge & Background Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, business, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive content marketing experience, including 5 years managing multiple global brands. Affiliate marketing experience is a plus.
  • Strong leadership skills to manage teams and processes.
  • Experience overseeing full content development processes and integrating marketing trends into practices.
  • Excellent communication skills and organizational abilities.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite, social media tools, and media techniques.
