These individuals work closely with clients to identify opportunities for growth, optimise operations, and enhance overall business performance.

In technology strategy at PwC, you will specialise in developing and implementing strategic plans to leverage technology for business growth and innovation. You will analyse market trends, assess organisational needs, and provide guidance on technology investments and initiatives. Working in this area, you will collaborate with stakeholders to align technology strategies with overall business objectives to increase utilisation of technology resources, driving competitive advantage.

Meaningful work you'll be part of

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Strategic Business Leader (i.e., a Transformation Architect) to join our Technology Strategy & Transformation team, playing a pivotal role in shaping and driving technology and data strategies across our Canadian Government clients, particularly in the Outsourcing space.

You will be responsible for aligning business and technology strategies, translating technical concepts into executive-level content and communications, and enabling effective decision-making by our client's senior technology leaders. You will be part of our national Technology Strategy & Transformation team helping customers solve large-scale strategic business problems with technology-enabled solutions.

As a Technology Strategy & Transformation Director, you'll work as part of a team of problem solvers, helping to solve business issues, deliver high-quality client service, and operational efficiency. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Strategic Technology Guidance: Leverage your industry depth and knowledge of key trends, emerging technologies, and leading practices to provide strategic technology guidance to our government clients. Stay ahead of current trends and likely disruptors in the Public Sector industry, enabling the identification of innovative solutions and opportunities for growth in the delivery of government services and operations. You will serve as a trusted advisor to CIOs/CTOs and their leadership teams, building and maintaining relationships to support their priorities and transformation journeys.
  • IT Outsourcing: Support clients throughout their outsourcing lifecycle from initial strategy through end-of-contract deal reviews. You will have experience managing complex transformational and/or modernization programs built around procurement of technology solutions, system integrators, and outsourcing service providers. Experience with complex technology, business processes, or outsourcing contracts, and outsourcing advisory, is essential.
  • Technical Expertise: Demonstrate expertise in technical project management, digital delivery, or technology consulting relevant to our clients. Bring a deep understanding of cloud technologies and the integration and implementation of emerging technology into business solutions. Hands-on experience in delivering complex technology solutions is required.
  • Architectural Assessment and Road Mapping: Evaluate and assess complex technology ecosystems and architectures, considering solution options and recommending implementation approaches. Develop comprehensive roadmaps aligned with business goals to drive digital transformation initiatives. Build business models into technical models and architectures to guide implementation teams using architecture tools.

Experiences and skills you'll use to solve

  • Deep experience linking business and technology strategies, plans, and roadmaps using enterprise architecture concepts and frameworks, with the ability to translate technical concepts into executive-level presentations and discussions.
  • The ability to lead solution perspectives and teams, developing complex solutions across multiple technology vendors and deriving actionable insights from architectural principles and priorities.
  • Proven executive-level communication skills with prior consulting experience.
  • Experience with vendor relationship management, including processes, best practices, and governance structures.
  • Hands-on knowledge of leading systems used in the Public Sector and experience with contract negotiations, including understanding standard clauses/SLAs, major risk areas, and approaches to favorable outcomes.
  • Experience developing and maintaining enterprise architecture artifacts, including detailed technical designs, considering dependencies across solutions.
  • Understanding of the vendor landscape, including major players in the outsourcing market and their core offerings.
  • Experience integrating solutions across SaaS, Cloud-native, and Outsource providers, including data flows.
  • Proficiency with Enterprise Architecture modeling tools and certifications like TOGAF, along with relevant cloud certifications (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Ability to achieve Reliability Clearance with the Government of Canada.
  • Fluency in English and French, supporting collaboration with diverse clients and stakeholders.
