Job summary

Momentum Financial Services Group seeks a Director of Compliance to lead and enhance the regulatory compliance program under the Vice President, Head of Compliance. You will apply expertise across advisory, testing, inquiries, and program improvements.

With 8+ years in banking or non-bank financial services, you’ll oversee governance, monitoring, risk assessments, audits, and regulatory changes across all products, helping the company stay compliant and serve clients effectively.

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in bank and/or non-bank financial services industry.
  • Extensive knowledge of banking and non-banking financial services which may include lending, check cashing, money transmission, loan servicing, payments compliance, consumer protection regulations and privacy laws.
  • Strong organizational, communication and project management skills required. Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Advisory & Research: Provide regulatory advice and guidance on assigned subjects to internal stakeholders across the organization to help achieve and maintain compliance for all products and services.
  • Program Governance: Lead or support the development and maintenance of assigned governance documentation for the regulatory compliance program, including policies, Compliance Department procedures, guidelines for other stakeholders, training and communications, and related matters.
  • Compliance Operations: Lead or support the execution of assigned operational functions within the Compliance Department (excluding those for AML), such as complaints management/oversight, privacy inbox management/oversight, operations-related risk assessments, and related matters.
  • Audit, Change & Issue Management: Lead or support the execution of assigned processes and systems to manage regulatory examinations, independent audit/testing engagements, third party reviews, and related matters.
  • Lead or support the execution of regulatory change management activities, such as monitoring regulatory developments, legislative processes, and changes to the company's business model / operations.
  • Lead or support the oversight of assigned issues and risks that are identified internally, via external parties, change management activities, and other sources.
  • Monitoring & Testing: Lead or support the execution of assigned monitoring, testing, quality assurance/control and related activities in relation to the company's regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards.

The Job: Director Compliance

The Director, Compliance is responsible for implementing and enhancing the assigned areas of the regulatory compliance management program under the leadership of the Vice President, Head of Compliance. This includes applying their expertise to assigned program functions (e.g., advisory, testing, external inquiries, etc.), subject areas (e.g., consumer protection, privacy, etc.), and program enhancements (e.g., systems and processes).

What You’ll Do
  • Advisory & Research: Provide regulatory advice and guidance on assigned subjects (e.g., consumer protection, privacy, etc.) to internal stakeholders across the organization to help achieve and maintain compliance for all products and services. This includes researching complex or novel matters and providing practical and risk-based advice.
  • Program Governance: Lead or support the development and maintenance of assigned governance documentation for the regulatory compliance program, including policies, Compliance Department procedures, guidelines for other stakeholders, training and communications, and related matters.
  • Compliance Operations: Lead or support the execution of assigned operational functions within the Compliance Department (excluding those for AML), such as complaints management/oversight, privacy inbox management/oversight, operations-related risk assessments (e.g., privacy impact assessments, third party risk assessments, etc.), and related matters.
  • Audit, Change & Issue Management: Lead or support the execution of assigned processes and systems systems to manage regulatory examinations, independent audit/testing engagements, third party reviews, and related matters. This includes preparing written materials, corresponding and meeting with internal and external stakeholders, and responding to observations.
  • Lead or support the execution of regulatory change management activities, such as monitoring regulatory developments, legislative processes, and changes to the company's business model / operations.
  • Lead or support the oversight of assigned issues and risks that are identified internally, via external parties, change management activities, and other sources. This includes developing or challenging action plans, providing related advice and guidance to issue/risk/control owners, and monitoring them to completion.
  • Monitoring & Testing: Lead or support the execution of assigned monitoring, testing, quality assurance/control and related activities in relation to the company's regulatory requirements and internal compliance standards. This may include periodic testing of products, subject areas (e.g., AML), or functions (e.g., privacy inbox).
What You’ll Bring to the Table
  • A minimum of 8 years of related work experience in bank and/or non-bank financial services industry.

Education + Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Desired: Advanced degree in Business, Finance, Law, or a related field.
  • Preferably an advanced degree such as a law degree or compliance certification.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) or similarRisk or compliance management-related certifications
