About the Finance Team

The Thumbtack Finance team’s mission is to be a strategic finance partner to the business, enabling better business decisions supported by data, while building a world-class finance function with integrity.

About the Role

As the finance business partner to the Chief Commercial Officer, you will be a trusted advisor, providing expertise in managing resources and growing the business to meet company goals. This highly visible role supports the Commercial organization, including Partnerships, Business Development, Sales, Service, and Operations teams.

You will provide end-to-end finance support, including analyzing market opportunities, contracts, building financial models, and delivering insights to inform decisions on pricing, customer acquisition, and market expansion. You will be a key cross-functional leader and part of the Commercial leadership team, focusing on growth initiatives.

You will help optimize go-to-market, sales, and revenue initiatives, evaluate performance, and enable data-driven decisions. Collaboration with Partnerships, Business Development, Sales, Service, and Operations will be essential to assess how sales and partnership decisions impact the P&L.

What you'll do
  1. Provide strategic guidance to commercial leaders on financial strategies, investments, incentive compensation, and resource allocation, based on market dynamics and financial insights.
  2. Lead deal desk support for strategic opportunities, focusing on revenue and profitability analysis.
  3. Build and maintain relationships across BD, Sales, Marketing, and Product teams to align financial planning with commercial goals.
  4. Support business planning, including developing team targets and OKRs.
  5. Prepare and present clear financial analyses and forecasts, highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities related to go-to-market strategies.
  6. Create dashboards, KPIs, and scorecards to monitor operational and financial metrics, analyzing results and communicating insights effectively.
  7. Work closely with Sales and Product teams to assess the impact of incentives, promotions, and pricing changes on revenue.
In order to be successful, you must bring
  1. 8+ years of FP&A experience, including supporting Business Development, New Ventures, or Partnership teams.
  2. Experience influencing C-level executives, ideally working with CFOs and other senior leaders. Strong initiative and ownership of strategic execution are essential.
  3. Experience supporting partnerships contracts, pricing, planning, forecasting, and reporting.
  4. Operational finance expertise working with Sales organizations, including goal setting, ROI analysis, and incentive management.
  5. Strong financial modeling and analytical skills, proficient with Excel and G-Suite, with the ability to provide quick insights and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
