The Director of Cloud and Infrastructure will lead the design, development, and implementation of cloud and infrastructure solutions to meet business needs. This role involves managing Cloud Platforms and Infrastructure Services ensuring security and compliance, optimizing performance, and supporting project demands within the scope of infrastructure deliverables.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Maintain and mature technology practices in Infrastructure Services and Delivery
    • Optimizing cloud and infrastructure for performance and cost-efficiency.
    • Ensuring security and compliance of cloud and infrastructure services.
    • Managing vendor relationships and external partnerships.
    • Maintain roadmaps for platforms and technologies as well as major work on strategic initiatives.
    • Establish new services and products for the organization.
    • Enhancement of existing services, processes with a continuous improvement mindset.
  2. Inter-team coordination with business, technical teams, engineering
    • Pro-active, problem-solving attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
    • Build professional relationships with LoBs and stakeholder groups in organization.
    • Keep stakeholders and team members informed of dates, effort, costs vs. estimates.
    • Recognize conflicts and challenges to resources, blockers, dependencies and initiate problem solving and risk mitigation strategies.
  3. Management of team members
    • Coach, lead, attract and retain talent.
    • Focus on team building, development.
    • Balance FTE and contractors to fulfill demands and grow capabilities.
  4. Regular management of demand and throughput
    • Involved in design, project intake and definition of build.
    • Understand Engineering team resource commitments, constraints and provide transparency to the process.
    • With support of peers; provide estimates to other technical and business teams for Engineering effort, costs and Assumptions.

Qualification:

  • Post-Secondary Education diploma/degree.
  • 5-7 years of experience in cloud and infrastructure management.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, GCP), cloud security and compliance, cloud service models.
  • Cloud certifications (Azure, GCP).
  • Well-crafted verbal and written communications.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and report writing skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to apply critical thinking to problems presented. Consider and outline options and impacts.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Experience in a technology delivery environment where funds/resources/time constraints create challenges to be balanced.

Additional Requirements:

  • Pro-active, problem-solving attitude and ability to work calmly under pressure.
  • DevSecOps Strategy, Configuration, Implementation and controls for Infrastructure Services.
  • Backups and DR Strategies.
  • Configuration and Automation strategies and best practices (ex. Ansible).
  • Knowledge of Cloud FinOps and principles.
  • Visualization Tools.
  • Infrastructure Monitoring and Observability.
  • Experience working in Agile (Scrum, Kanban) AND waterfall environments.
  • Desire to always make things better.
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field.
  • Understanding of testing practices.
  • Understanding of ITIL release management best practices and change control rigor.
