The Director partners with executive Procurement leads and develops a team that provide commodity and manufacturing input data driven insights that enable fact-based discussions with National and Control Brand suppliers.
Accountabilities:-
Leadership:
Partner with senior Procurement Stakeholders and their teams - educating the function on Commodity markets
Coach and mentor Commodity team. This includes explicit consideration of very specialized on-the-job training needs for each colleague, arranging appropriate training, providing timely feedback, talent development and succession planning
Provide ongoing development opportunities for group
Promote an environment of trust & authenticity
Cost of Goods Increase Management
Review, analyze, quantify, and communicate findings on major supplier proposed cost changes to all impacted partners and coordinates team’s communications
Lead all aspects of the end-to-end negotiation process including the coordination across Procurement and our supplier base
Strategize and plan supplier discussions with Procurement to produce best in class cost.
Ensure internal processes and procedures are followed compliantly
Cost Improvement & Strategic Sourcing
Find opportunities for cost improvement throughout the enterprise using available market data and insights.
Identify and supervise the creation of tools to support cost improvement initiatives
Lead strategic conversations with suppliers
Improve and build additional cost model programs or “open book” agreements with vendors. Taking a creative approach to supplier costing agreements with Loblaw aiming to be the best Buyers in Canada
Process Improvement
Participate and identify automation activities to streamline the cost increase review process and to identify cost reduction opportunities
Requirements:
University degree in business, economics, mathematics, or a related field. MBA preferred.
5 to 7 years relevant experience with foundational understanding of commodity markets, procurement, retail finance
Ability to empower teams of different sizes and navigate the complexities working within a matrix organization
Strong problem-solving skills, able to navigate complex problems and communicate solutions backed up by data
Ability to self-initiate and work independently and as part of a team to deliver results
Strong presentation, written and oral communication skills with high level of integrity
