Reporting to the Associate Vice President of Planning, you will be at the helm of Seneca’s data revolution. As the Director, Centre for Institutional Data and Enterprise Analytics, you will spearhead the development and implementation of our cutting-edge data strategy, propelling the advancement of data analytics practices that align seamlessly with Seneca's strategic goals and objectives.

This role will have a hand in developing, implementing and overseeing comprehensive institutional planning strategies that align with Seneca's Strategic Plan, while ensuring equity, diversity and inclusion in all decision-making and implementation of new initiatives.

Strategic Planning
- Lead and implement institutional data analytics and governance strategies, collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with institutional goals.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of Seneca to ensure goals and objectives are met, making recommendations for improvement.
- Develop and maintain a comprehensive data governance plan aligned with Seneca's objectives, identifying crucial operations, assessing risks, and prioritizing recovery activities.
- Collaborate on the implementation of a reliable, scalable and efficient data technology architecture, including operational integrations, data pipelines and data warehouse solutions.
- Create and maintain comprehensive data models that describe critical aspects of the business, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements.
- Oversee the design of data integrations between operational source systems, ensuring reliable, timely, and consistent data flow.
- Lead development, implementation and tracking of data governance policies and procedures, ensuring data quality, accuracy, security and compliance with industry regulations.
- Collaborate with data governance, data engineering, and application development teams to ensure data quality at the source.
Analysis and Planning
- Lead data analytics initiatives from conception through process mapping, risk analysis, financial analysis, resource allocation, contract management, and performance evaluation.
- Support and make recommendations regarding the sequencing, planning, and execution of institution-wide data projects.
- Develop organizational and strategic awareness of cross-institutional priorities and strategies to identify synergies and opportunities for coordination.
- Guide the implementation of analytic data pipelines and a data warehouse to consolidate raw system data and transform it into business objects for reporting and AI/ML modeling.
- Define KPIs and create visualization reports to guide executive decision-making.
- Drive enhancements in user-friendliness in the creation, presentation and dissemination of information.
- Lead the collection and integration of data from multiple sources.
- Ensure the integrity and reliability of data by addressing inconsistencies and errors.
- Utilize statistical techniques and machine learning to analyze data and develop predictive models.
Financial Planning
- Manage financial planning, forecasting and budgeting processes to efficiently allocate resources for strategic goals while maintaining financial discipline.
- Maintain consolidated financial reports for leadership review after each budget or estimate planning cycle.
- Responsible for managing budgets and resources to ensure the institution has the necessary resources to achieve its goals and objectives, working closely with departments to identify and allocate resources accordingly.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Collaborate with leadership to study markets, evaluate new business prospects, define goals and strategies, and establish departmental policies and processes.
- Foster strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and gather input for strategic planning.
- Represent the institution on campus committees and with provincial and national planning organizations, sharing findings across academic and service areas.
Leadership and Team Management
- Establish institutional planning objectives and work plans, delegate assignments, and provide leadership and input for institutional goals and policies.
- Guide research, project and planning design, data analysis, and presentation, managing ongoing activities.
What You Bring to Seneca
- 8+ years of relevant experience in applying analytics or working with data across various industries.
- Leadership or management experience, including project management in analytical or data-driven fields.
- Strong expertise in statistical techniques, data mining and predictive modeling.
- Familiarity with tools such as SQL, Python, Hadoop, NoSQL databases, Tableau, and Power BI.
- Knowledge of PeopleSoft data model.
- Experience with optimization modeling, machine learning, forecasting, and natural language processing.
- Ability to interpret data in a business context, work with ambiguous data, develop creative solutions, and interpret results from a postsecondary perspective.
- Enthusiasm for solving complex problems with analytical tools and a desire to develop skills further.
- Graduate degree in Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Mathematical Physics, Computer Science or related field.
