What is the opportunity?

RBC Cards is one of the leading credit card businesses in Canada and is a strong contributor to RBC’s overall Canadian Banking revenues and profits. The business has grown tremendously in the last five years, driven by our strong suite of Credit Card products and innovative strategy.

The successful candidate for this role will be tasked with development and implementation of business strategies for RBC’s lending cards. As the Director, Cards Pricing and Performance you will partner with various product, risk and partner teams, be accountable for the successful execution and integration of business strategies across multiple key stakeholders and be responsible for influencing key decisions that impact the Cards P&L. Specifically, you will contribute to the broader Cards business objectives and results by recommending and implementing pricing and terms changes that align with our financial goals and meet regulatory requirements, and work with partner teams, such as fraud and collections.

What will you do?

  • Identify opportunities to improve the performance of the Retail Cards portfolio
  • Lead the analysis and recommendation of potential pricing changes
  • Develop an understanding of the regulatory landscape and ensure that products deliver desired financial returns while meeting regulatory requirements
  • Partner with internal teams, such as fraud and collections to bring forward initiatives that improve the performance of the Retail Cards portfolio
  • Support partner teams through initiatives that impact the Retail Cards portfolio
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including credit risk, analytics, business risk, Law Group, compliance, marketing
  • Identify opportunities for accelerating market share, share of wallet, client engagement & retention, balance growth while meeting our business financial & market share objectives
  • Monitor and report on strategy effectiveness and KPI outcomes relative to expectations, identify insights on new opportunities, and preparing executive level presentations.

Must have:

  • Highly analytical and able to translate challenges into quantitative problems
  • Ability to operate in ambiguous spaces and optimize results while facing a variety of constraints
  • Strong teamwork and ability to work with different people on a shared objective
  • Strategic Mindset - ability to think strategically, integrate information from multiple sources and synthesize complex issues
  • Strong ability to achieve results in the context of complexity, ambiguity and constant change
  • Highly organized with ability to multitask and shift priorities
  • Excellent critical thinking skills with ability to resolve issues through innovative solutions
  • Well-developed interpersonal and influencing skills to build and maintain effective working relationships and elicit cooperation from internal partners
  • Proficient in MS Excel, MS Word, PowerPoint, SQL

Nice to have:

  • Prior Cards experience or working knowledge of Cards products – understanding of key credit card business drivers and operations
  • Understanding of key regulations related to credit cards
  • Proficient in Python
