Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a Director with significant management and leadership experience to join our Capital Planning & Support Services department.

The Director, Capital Planning & Projects is responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of capital development projects. The role involves ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet the required outcomes. The incumbent leads projects from procurement to completion, engages with executive sponsors, develops project plans, and communicates progress with key stakeholders.

Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739, based on education, training, experience, and comparable positions.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in Business Management or Architecture/Building/Engineering, with a minimum of ten (10) years of progressive project management experience on large, complex healthcare projects.
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification preferred.
  • LEAN training and experience considered an asset.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Thorough understanding of facilities management, development, and project management within publicly funded healthcare.
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards, government procedures, and regulations.
  • Advanced project management skills, including planning and coordinating projects from design to completion.
  • Leadership skills to guide staff and contractors.
  • Ability to build relationships, foster trust, and promote teamwork.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Proficiency with computer applications including word processing, spreadsheets, and project management software.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare construction standards, contracts, codes, and bylaws.
  • Conflict resolution and consensus-building skills.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex issues creatively.
