Position Summary

Are you interested in an opportunity to grow professionally within a positive and progressive culture? Northern Health is seeking a champion with significant management and leadership experience to join our Capital Planning & Support Services department.

The Director, Capital Planning & Projects is responsible for the planning, management, and implementation of capital development projects. The role involves ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet desired outcomes. The incumbent leads projects from procurement to completion, engaging with executive sponsors, developing project plans, and communicating progress with stakeholders.

Starting salary will be approximately from $116,591 to $145,739, based on education, training, experience, and comparable positions.

Qualifications

  • Post-graduate degree in Business Management, Architecture, Building, or Engineering, with at least 10 years of progressive project management experience in large, complex healthcare projects.
  • LEED Accredited Professional certification preferred.
  • LEAN training and experience are assets.
  • Equivalent education, training, and experience may be considered.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong understanding of facilities management, development, and project management in publicly funded healthcare.
  • Knowledge of healthcare standards, government procedures, and regulations.
  • Advanced project management skills, including planning and coordinating major projects from design to completion.
  • Leadership and guidance skills for staff and contractors.
  • Relationship-building skills to foster cooperation and trust.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills.
  • Teamwork and collaboration abilities.
  • Proficiency with software such as word processing, spreadsheets, and project management tools.
  • Extensive knowledge of healthcare construction standards, contract law, building codes, and bylaws.
  • Conflict resolution and consensus-building skills.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and develop creative solutions.
