The Opportunity

Alta West Capital is seeking an experienced and results-oriented Director, Capital Markets & Investor Relations to lead capital raising initiatives across Western Canada and Ontario.

This is a senior role intended for a proven relationship builder with a strong distribution network including, financial advisors, family offices, accountants, and other centres of influence, as well as existing trusted relationships with HNW individuals interested in alternative income investments.

The successful candidate will be responsible for originating and cultivating relationships with potential distributors or introducers, and acting as a trusted ambassador for the firm's investment platform.

Key Responsibilities
Capital Raising & Business Development
  • Participate in direct distribution of Alta West Capital's Mortgage Investment Corporations and related investment products.
  • Develop new relationships with high-net-worth individuals, family offices, corporations, professional advisors, and referral partners.
  • Manage and expand an existing network of investors while developing new sources of capital.
  • Conduct investor meetings, presentations, webinars, and educational events.
  • Represent Alta West Capital at industry conferences and networking events.
  • Develop strategic partnerships that contribute to long‑term growth in assets under management.
  • Work closely with senior leadership to execute fundraising initiatives and achieve capital raising objectives.
Investor Relations
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for prospective and existing investors.
  • Present investment opportunities, portfolio performance, market insights, and investment strategy updates.
  • Maintain ongoing investor engagement through proactive communication and relationship management.
  • Deliver a best‑in‑class investor experience focused on trust, transparency, and long‑term relationships.
  • Collaborate with marketing, operations, and executive leadership to support investor growth initiatives.
Qualifications
Required Experience
  • Demonstrated track record of raising investor capital during their career, with the ability to evidence a robust network of accredited investors, family offices, financial advisors, and professional referral partners.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in investment sales, capital raising, wealth management, private credit, alternative investments, private banking, or related financial services.
  • Demonstrated success working with high‑net‑worth and small institutional investors.
  • Strong understanding of private credit investment markets and alternative investment products.
  • Excellent presentation, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a proven ability to generate new business opportunities and achieve ambitious growth objectives.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing to a collaborative and high‑performing team.
Educational Requirements
  • Registered as a Dealing Representative with an Exempt Market Dealer or eligible for registration.
  • Successful completion of the Exempt Market Products Exam (EMP) and Conduct and Practices Handbook (CPH).
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) considered a strong asset.
  • Industry designations such as CFA, CIM, CFP, FCSI, or equivalent are considered assets.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience raising capital for Mortgage Investment Corporations (MICs), mortgage funds, private credit funds, real estate investment vehicles, or alternative asset managers.
  • Familiarity with residential and commercial mortgage lending.
  • Established relationships within the financial advisory, accounting, and family office communities.
  • Tech savvy / experience with CRM and tech‑enabled outreach tools.
  • Knowledge of the Canadian exempt market and private investment landscape.
