What You’ll Be Doing
The Capital Markets arm of CIBC serves corporate, government, and institutional clients with innovative solutions and value-added services. From actionable ideas to highly tailored financing solutions, M&A advice, and a strong lineup of capital markets and treasury services, CIBC Capital Markets teams can provide the capabilities clients need to capitalize on opportunities and manage risk.
As a Director, Business Management, Global Markets Financing and Financial Resource Management (GMF & FRM), you will contribute to the Business Management function pertaining to all of the components of GMF & FRM liaising with the business (front office) and across CIBC to ensure all business strategies/initiatives/projects/regulatory & compliance issues are addressed and resolved. You will be accessible to the business throughout the day to actively respond to information requirements and requests, resolving day-to-day issues as they arise. You will complete tasks that impact the firm's bottom line, interacting directly with all team members and infrastructure groups in a fast-paced environment.

How You’ll Succeed
Strategic Coordination & Project Management: You will play a key role in supporting and contributing to strategic and business planning by collaborating closely with the GMF & FRM leadership team. Your responsibilities will include managing projects for new initiatives and conducting Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRAs) to ensure effective implementation and risk mitigation. Your role will be vital in ensuring effective organization of meetings with stakeholders, documenting and executing necessary deliverables, and following up as required. You will assist with updating and maintaining business dashboards, line of business roadmaps and bi-weekly leadership presentations.
Process Improvement and Compliance: You will be tasked with developing and implementing enhancements to internal procedures and practices. This includes establishing a robust and documented internal control structure, supported by policies and procedures tailored to specific business activities. Additionally, you will investigate, document, and report on regulatory and operational incidents and errors to maintain compliance and enhance operational integrity.
Risk Management and Governance: Your role will involve tracking and reporting on key business and operational processes to support the execution of strategic plans. You will ensure that Risk Delegations and Authorized Products Listings are current and complete. Furthermore, you will complete and attest to CIBC governance functions, such as user system access, shared folders, contract reviews, records management, and business-managed technology. You will also assist the Capital Markets Centralized Governance & Controls Team with deficiency management, risk and controls self-assessments, privacy incidents, and related party attestations as required.
Stakeholder & Business Support: You’ll coordinate and respond to auditor and regulator requests, findings, and reports, ensuring accurate attestation of all governance functions. Regular liaison with individuals in the business, the Capital Market CAO team, and infrastructure partners (e.g., Technology, Global Operational Risk Management, Compliance, Enterprise Business Continuity Management, Audit, Finance) will be essential for your success. You will support the Finance team in expense management and review processes, track costs by services and products, and be prepared to act on ad-hoc requests and projects as needed. Additionally, you’ll work closely with the business to develop Sr. Management and Board presentations, providing detail and insight into client activity and business performance, You will also review, onboard, validate and approve invoices from vendors and partners in a timely manner.
You can demonstrate 4 to 5 years’ experience working in Capital Markets or a corporate development function. Knowledge of CIBC operating policies, standards and organizational structure is an asset.
You have an undergraduate degree; MBA/CFA/CA is an asset.
