Job summary

Girl Guides of Canada–Guides du Canada (GGC) is seeking a Director of Brand & Marketing to lead the brand strategy and marketing functions across Canada, including social media, campaigns, and creative services.

You will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to elevate the legacy brand, support accelerated growth, and drive impact for girls and youth. Remote work with access to Toronto, ON offers flexibility and in-person collaboration as needed.

Qualifications

  • Minimum seven to ten years in progressive marketing and brand roles.
  • Experience with legacy brands and multi-channel campaigns is a plus.
  • Proven ability to advise executives and manage cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of CASL, PIPEDA, and data protection standards is desirable.
  • Experience with social media strategy, content creation, and analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the Brand & Marketing function and provide strategic guidance and hands-on leadership.
  • Develop and champion a compelling brand strategy to elevate the GGC legacy in Canada.
  • Plan, execute, and evaluate multi-channel marketing campaigns across audiences and touchpoints.
  • Oversee social media strategy, digital communities, and SEO/retargeting efforts.
  • Direct creative services and visual content to support campaigns and brand storytelling.
  • Build and coach the Brand & Marketing team and manage external agencies.

About This Opportunity

Champions brand strategy to elevate the profile of the GGC legacy brand in Canada. Oversee marketing management, social media, and creative solutions, building a high-performing Brand & Marketing function to support accelerated growth to serve more girls and youth.

Responsibilities Include
Brand Strategy
  • Establishes and leads the Brand and Marketing function, providing both strategic advice to nurture the brand and hands-on management of the brand proposition.
  • Develops and champions a compelling brand strategy, partnering with stakeholders inside and outside the organization to elevate the profile of GGC legacy brand in Canada through exceptional brand storytelling
  • Implements brand management to foster a consistent brand voice and brand experience across all touchpoints.
Marketing Management
  • Spearheads partnering with BBD’s client groups to deliver effective, coherent marketing strategies across audiences, channels, impact areas and member journeys.
  • Leads and oversees marketing management to plan, execute, deploy and evaluate marketing campaigns across a variety of channels, teams, and tactics.
Social Media & Digital Communities
  • Oversees GGC’s social media strategy, leveraging digital communities and social channels to drive community engagement and impact.
  • Oversees digital marketing, ensuring that effective search engine optimization, retargeting, conversion tracking, and platform strategies are in place.
Creative Solutions
  • Oversees creative direction and provision of visual creative content, products, tools and materials to support campaigns and initiatives, such as graphic design, video, packaging, etc.
  • Establishes and leads a visual creative solutions centre of expertise, ensuring effective planning, collaboration, workload management, and brand consistency.
Membership Merchandise
  • Leads merchandising function and manages key vendor/supplier relationships
  • Leads merchandise growth & diversification strategy
Stakeholder Collaboration
  • Nurtures effective relationships with key stakeholders and partners to ensure alignment and advance strategic initiatives.
  • Oversees market research initiatives and collaborates with Research & Data team on internal research and data initiatives to inform brand, marketing and enterprise-wide strategies.
  • Ensures brand and marketing activities are aligned with GGC's DEIA (Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Accessibility) principles.
People Leadership
  • Builds, develops manages and coaches the Brand & Marketing team, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and high-performance environment.
  • Manages talent and external agency relationships to ensure BBD is equipped with the appropriate mix of expertise in marketing strategy, channels, platforms, and tactics.
  • Leads operational planning, budget management, functional performance measurement, and outcomes evaluation for the Brand & Marketing function, continuously raising the bar and driving innovation.
General
  • Adheres to all relevant policies, procedures, and practices.
  • Liaise with other departments as required.
  • Provide general, ongoing support to members/volunteers, responding to/directing inquiries and consulting
  • with the appropriate groups and individuals to support the mission and vision of GGC.
  • Other duties as assigned.
You are an ideal candidate if you have:
Education, Designations, And Certifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline, such as Marketing, Business Administration, or related field; advanced degree preferred. A diploma with extensive marketing experience may be considered.
Prior Work Experience
  • Minimum of 7-10 years’ experience in progressive marketing and brand management roles, with expertise in brand storytelling, campaign development, product marketing and multi-channel strategy.
  • Proven track record and expertise in brand strategy - experience working with legacy brands is an asset.
  • Proven experience in developing and executing brand and marketing strategies preferably in one of: cause marketing, youth development focused, or not-for-profit environments.
  • Proven experience leading marketing or creative services teams, including establishing and operating new teams or service delivery models.
  • Proven experience advising executives and senior management.
  • Experience with contact management best practices, data protection standards, and compliance with regulations such as CASL, PIPEDA, and other applicable frameworks.
  • Experience with social media management, including platform strategy, content creation, and analytics.
  • Experience building strong relationships and navigating buy-in with boards, volunteers, community members and influential stakeholders.

  • Exceptional communication, presentation, and storytelling skills to engage and influence diverse stakeholders
  • Strong understanding of industry trends in brand strategy, marketing management, multi-channel strategy, social media strategy, particularly in a nonprofit context
  • Nuanced understanding of branding and marketing strategies and tactics, across a range of domains/disciplines
  • Strong analytical, decision-making and project management skills
  • Strong business acumen, including ability to leverage data to optimize marketing campaigns, improve ROI and drive impact
  • Proactive and adaptable, willing to be hands-on with strategic positioning or tactical execution when needed
  • Proficient in collaboration tools, digital marketing tools, social media platforms, marketing analytics, and Microsoft Office; familiarity with CRM systems is an asset.
  • Leadership and team management skills, with experience mentoring marketing professionals and coaching high performing teams

Hiring Range

$103,400 - $122,000 annually
