Job Summary

The Director of Automotive Supply Chain Growth is responsible for aligning the commercial and operational aspects of the Automotive network within Sales and Marketing. This includes overseeing functions within the CN subsidiary Autoport and CN Autoramps. The role ensures the overall success of Autoport by leading Managers and Departments such as Facility Operations, Safety, Customer Service, Labour Relations (LR), Human Resources (HR), Information and Technology (I&T), Claims and Insurance, and Equipment Reliability. The director validates the effectiveness of people and processes to maintain Autoport as a safe, efficient, and profitable organization, while ensuring effective communication with stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities

Operational Excellence

  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement and accountability
  • Maintain or improve key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operations and commercial activities
  • Conduct monthly financial reviews

Safety

  • Implement behavioral leadership initiatives across all facilities
  • Lead safety governance and initiatives
  • Develop and execute the Annual Safety Action Plan
  • Achieve or surpass safety metrics

Strategy, Growth, and Stakeholder Collaboration

  • Collaborate with Sales and Marketing on new business opportunities
  • Research and lead innovation projects to enhance efficiency and safety
  • Develop strategic plans for facility operations to support business growth and maintenance
  • Participate in industry and customer meetings

People Leadership

  • Create an environment of empowerment and development
  • Identify opportunities for growth at all organizational levels
  • Develop future leaders to support succession planning
  • Design and implement engagement initiatives to improve employee engagement scores
  • Ensure competitive compensation packages for Autoport employees

Working Conditions

The role involves standard office work with a Monday to Friday schedule, plus 24/7 emergency availability for security and safety. Occasional fieldwork (up to 20%) may expose the incumbent to weather conditions. The role requires meeting tight deadlines, making quick decisions, and handling high-pressure situations. Travel within the US and Canada (up to 40%) is expected.
