We are seeking a Director, Accounting based out of Markham, ON (Hybrid). Reporting to the Vice President, Controller, this role will responsible for overseeing all aspects of our financial accounting processes, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency. The ideal candidate will possess extensive knowledge of accounting principles, excellent leadership skills, and a proven track record of success in financial management.

Key responsibilities include:

• Lead and mentor the accounting, accounts payable and accounts receivable teams, fostering a culture of high performance, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Collaborate with other departments to oversee the effective, accurate and timely close of period ends and create scale and efficiency in managing the accounting close process with a proactive approach by addressing issues at their root cause
• Partner with Financial Reporting team to assist with year-end audits and quarterly reviews
• Implement best practices to streamline financial processes and enhance overall productivity by identifying opportunities for automation, process improvement and efficiency gains within the accounting function
• Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions, banking, filing of sales tax returns, preparation of balance sheet reconciliations and review
• Maintain effective internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with internal controls over financial reporting and accounting standards
• Other ad-hoc analyses and tasks as assigned

The ideal candidate will possess:

• 8+ years experience with 3+ years of experience in managerial or leadership role
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance and CPA designation
• Successful track record working in team environments with proven ability to act as a business partner and cross-functional team player
• A strong knowledge of IFRS and internal controls over financial reporting
• Proficiency in SAP is preferred
• Experience within the telecommunication or a similar industry is an asset
