Job summary

The Alberta Energy Regulator (AER) is seeking a Directive 056 Facility Application Specialist to join the Regulatory Applications Branch. You will review Directive 056 routine and nonroutine facility applications and provide technical advice during SOCAR processes, hearings, and resolutions.

The role requires deep knowledge of AER Directives 056, 089, 090, Manual 12, OGCR and OGCA, plus strong collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. Some travel to Alberta sites may be required.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of related industry or regulatory experience.
• Strong understanding of Alberta’s regulatory framework and directives (056, 089, 090, Manual 12, OGCR, OGCA).
• Willingness to travel 1-2 days per year across Alberta.

Responsibilities

• Review Directive 056 routine and nonroutine facility applications.
• Evaluate SOCAR-process applications and participate in hearings as needed.
• Provide technical guidance on complex Directive 056 issues to internal/external stakeholders.
• Lead or participate in enterprise projects and assist with implementation.
• Coach and mentor less experienced staff and share knowledge.
• Identify areas for technical competency development and facilitate learning opportunities.
