Position Title: Utility Construction Laborer

Reports To: Foreman/Project Manager

Department: Field

FLSA: Non-Exempt

Location: Belleville, MI

Job Summary

We are looking for utility construction laborers to join our team! As a utility construction laborer, you would be responsible for assisting the foreman and team with installing and replacing underground utilities. Prior experience in directional drilling/boring is preferred.

Key Tasks & Responsibilities
  1. Perform manual labor tasks in a utility installation environment, including:
  • Digging/trenching and backfilling
  • Building and cleaning manholes
  • Replacing concrete, installing/removing pipes, cleaning pipes, setting poles
  • Operating and maintaining drilling equipment, conducting measurements
  • Installing/removing conduit and cable, splicing cables
  • Demolition work
  • Read and interpret plans, instructions, and specifications
  • Follow safety and incident reporting procedures
  • Drive vehicles to job sites, perform traffic control and flagging
  • Use hand tools near underground utilities
  • Assist the line-up crew and welders
  • Support repair, maintenance, and construction of gas pipelines
  • Requirements
    • Valid Driver’s License (CDL)
    • Satisfactory driving record (MVR check required)
    • Ability to pass pre-employment and random drug tests
    • Pre-employment background screening clearance
    • Team player with a dedicated and goal-oriented attitude
    • Willing to work overtime, weekends, and in all weather conditions
    • Physical ability to lift, squat, and stand for extended periods
    Compensation

    Union scale pay, currently $27.16/hour ($23.16 base + $4.00 vacation pay). CDL holders earn an additional $1.00/hour on base pay.
