The First Nations Executive Education (FNEE) is a management school created for and by First Nations, propelled by Executive Education HEC Montréal. FNEE offers short qualifying university programs in communities, online and in Montréal. Guided by the philosophy of strengthening leaders' skills by combining traditional knowledge with contemporary best practices in management, FNEE currently delivers several programs aimed at elected officials, administrators, executives, managers, entrepreneurs and the next generation of First Nations, with more activities to come. This one-of-a-kind school is staffed by HEC Montréal professors and First Nations trainers.

Position Summary

The director of the FNEE leads the management and development of the FNEE and ensures that the organization is aligned with the orientations proposed by Ghislain Picard, Associate Professor, and the Coordinating Committee, in terms of sustainability, program development, outreach and communication.

The Director's Major Responsabilities Are

Sustainable structuring of the FNEE project

  • Assist the Advisory Committee (First Nations Members - HEC Montréal Executive Education and institutional partners and governments), as well as the FNEE Coordination Committee.
  • Oversee the implementation of major corporate and institutional partnerships with First Nations and civil society stakeholders.

Program development and deployment

  • Participate in the creation and implementation of a growth action plan, including the development of Programs (ideation and conceptualization) and their deployment across Quebec and potentially across Canada, and ensure that objectives set are achieved.
  • Collaborate with HEC Montréal faculty and First Nations trainers to develop and update pedagogical content for both public and customized programs, for all clienteles.
  • Help recruit participants in communities.

Communication and outreach

  • Ensure the development and implementation of structuring actions aimed at promoting the FNEE and mobilizing the various players involved in realizing FNEE’s mission.
  • Align and oversee the development of annual communications strategy plans.

Planning and management of human and financial resources

  • Implement a work structure that mobilizes and optimizes human resources.
  • Participate in the planning, development and monitoring of the department's budget.
  • Submit any file requiring special attention to the superior; perform any other task requested by the superior or related to their duties, in order to maintain or improve services in their area of responsibility.

Profile

A First Nations Person With The Following Profile

  • Master's in Business Administration or a related discipline and minimum of ten years' related work experience, particularly in developing and managing business relationships and project management in complex, multi-stakeholder environments
  • Very strong knowledge of First Nations communities and the First Nations eco-system (organizations, commissions, etc. )and issues
  • Very good knowledge of institutional and corporate decision-making processes, development challenges and growth issues
  • Very good command of spoken and written English and French
  • Good knowledge of commonly used software and technological environments
  • Ability to work in a complex environment to achieve business objectives
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Excellent communication and writing skills
  • A keen sense of innovation
  • Ability to foster a climate of trust with partners and staff
  • Well-organized and good at prioritizing and able to work under pressure, on several files simultaneously
  • Ability to see the whole picture, strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work with high-level professionals
  • Ability to work independently, with minimum supervision
  • 23 annual vacation days after one year of service
