What we are looking for :
As the Private Debts’ platform continues to expand, the Corporate Debt team is seeking to add a Private Debt Product Specialist, dedicated to expanding investor awareness of the PD offerings. The incumbent will support and enhance capital raising efforts, while improving communication channels between the firm’s enterprise-level Sales and Distribution teams.
This position reports to a Managing Director in Corporate Private Debt. The Managing Director focuses on capital raising, portfolio management, and is an investment committee member. The Private Debt Product Specialist will support the MD as they enhance and expand institutional relationships with existing and prospective investors on behalf of the Private Debt platform. The Product Specialist will drive the firm's client services function, facilitating efforts to provide excellent coverage and servicing to the Private Debt client base of institutional investors, while concurrently, anticipating and responding to the variety of needs and inquiries of major Canadian investors.
Your responsibilities :
- Support capital raising efforts for the Corporate Debt team by researching and compiling targeted LP and consultant lists, and by crafting product messaging for enterprise sales’ teams;
- Stay atop of industry trends and events, evaluating and subsequently, determining which professional conferences and summits to attend;
- Manage and coordinate the Private Debt team’s project management functions, including all proposal and diligence activities; ensuring that the firm accomplishes its objectives within prescribed deadlines.
- Support fundraising efforts for a flagship fund which the final closing taking place in approximately one year, with a capital target of approximately ∼$1 billion;
- Provide project management and sales support for a second Private Debt Fund, for its second close;
- Over time, and with continued success, the Private Debt Product Specialist will become increasingly more involved with direct sales. To be a strong cultural fit, this person must be intelligent, highly driven, and team-oriented, bringing a collaborative approach to client development and management.
- Investor RelationsSupport the Corporate PD team’s existing client relationships and plan biannual client meetings; providing consistent and regular updates to clients on fund performance and investment activityProvide seamless client servicing throughout the onboarding and subscription agreement process; client communications, quarterly meetings, Limited Partner Advisory Committee (LPAC) meetings and preparation for the Annual General Meeting (AGM) and ESG surveysPerforming in-depth portfolio analytics and benchmarkingAct as the main point-of-contact for the wider firm, responding to client inquiries; answering sophisticated and complex questions from the LPs, through communicating product details and leveraging knowledge of the underlying assets

Must have requirements to be successful in this role :
- Bachelor’s degree in economics, business or equivalent; CFA and / or MBA greatly preferred
- 3 to 5 years of work experience with an alternative’s investment manager (preferably in fixed income / credit), a 3rd-party investment advisory / consultant or an LP
- Capital markets knowledge; a passion for PD alternatives, with a familiarity of the underlying asset base
- Experience with best practice strategies for marketing, communications and material production; delivering of a uniform and competitive message to the firm’s investor base
- Agility with Excel and PowerPoint, leveraging exceptional research capabilities and a creative mindset
- Self-motivated; an entrepreneurial spirit driven to complete tasks in an accurate and timely manner
- A low-ego and collaborative team player; is comfortable to support team efforts from behind the scenes
- Intuitive and resourceful, with excellent organizational skills and the ability to work autonomously
- High attention to detail, and ability to work across functional groups and build consensus
- Superior interpersonal skills; collaborative and proactive to participate in a knowledge-sharing culture
- Poised and polished communication skills; bilingual EN / FR preferred but not required
- Ability to travel occasionally, as required
